Hi all! I've been metal detecting on and off for about 12 years. The lionshare of that has been in Wisconsin. I have an AT Max with the Garrett 5x8 and 8.5x11 coils and I will be buying the NEL Sharpshooter. I have a Garrett pinpointer and a Lesche I've had from the start.

I have the great fortune to have been invited to Tuckernuck Island this coming summer. This is a private island next to Nantucket. I plan on mostly hunting the two properties I have permission to hunt on, in addition to the beach. Is there anything I'm missing gearwise from listed above? Any tips for coils to purchase or even detectors that work great in that area? I don't want to overlook anything since we will be on the island for 10 days and this seems like an opportunity I don't want to waste.

I'm super excited and promise to post pics here of my finds when I return.

Thanks in advance!

Good luck on your hunt! ATMax will do you well! I have a Max that I love as well as a Deus II and a Nokta Impact that are great at the beach as well as relic hunting. Impact is NOT waterproof so I don't beach hunt with it except the dry sand areas. If you go in the water with the Max set your ground balance manually.

The wet sand may be a problem but I think you're fine. Good luck!!!
