Well, it took almost a year, but I finally saved enough money to buy a water machine. Thank you to flphil and DnD for the advice. I got a Garrett Infinium LS and it should be delivered tomorrow. I am so excited. Now it is scoop buying time.

Last thing - have a good link to the recovery pouch you use in the water and on wet sand? Please send it my way. [emoji3]

DO NOT cheap out on the scoop. Let me repeat. DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON THE SCOOP!!!!!

The pouch I use is a mesh w/ 2 zipper pockets. Bought on ebay for around $35

I use a discarded shotgun shells pouch that I got at Basspro. It's big and easy and I just dump everything in there as I hunt. First one lasted me 6 years and I'm now on my 2nd that I just picked up recently for about $15. The one I just picked up was a little cheaper than this one since it came without a belt and it's black.

I used to own an Infinium, that is one bad *** machine. Just as good as the TDI that I use now. Get the 10x14 mono coil for some extreme depth, it's also much lighter and easier to pinpoint than the stock coil.

As DnD said, don't cheap out on the scoop, you will be digging some crazy holes with that machine. I wouldn't get the Trex, it's not built very solid, my buddy uses one and he constantly has to get it rewelded where it breaks. Get a sunspot scoop.

I use this pouch:

Small zipper pocket in front for the good targets, main pocket for trash, the pocket with the clip holds my waterproof otterbox with my keys.

Yes the first link is the one I have. It seems overpriced IMO but it works. I had issues w/ smaller zippers breaking b/c of sand getting in them. This one has bigger zippers that so far have done better.

I use a Stealth 720 and will be buying the 920ix next. I abuse the !!!! out of my scoop and it keeps taking it so I'm sticking with the company I trust. Chuck makes some damn fine scoops. (not to say Stavr or trex are bad, I just haven't used them to compare)

Can I buy my own handle for the Stealth 720 or do I have to order the handle from sunspot?

I bought an ash handle at home depot for around $13. I do plan to switch to the CF handle though. The problem with the ash handles is they are tapered at the end so you have to cut them to fit the opening on the scoop. That shortens them by probably 4-5" which sucks when you're in deeper water. The CF handle would eliminate that and reduce weight.

It's an expensive hobby to get started, but one nice ring can pay for it all. ;)

Congrats!

One water hunt is all it takes to realize you truly need a quality scoop. As far as a finds pouch, might be preference. Zippers allow I to blindly open and close as well as check to make sure its closed, but sand can prohibit them from opening/closing. Velcro can be your friend or nemesis. Bad Velcro opens up and u lose your stuff in the waves. Good Velcro sometimes takes both hands to open.....then if u don't shut it evenly, the pounch has a little opening that also let's things slip out in the surf. So sometimes you are golden and sometimes u can't win LOL

Anyhow, grab yourself some bobby pins and fish hooks, then start practicing on the sounds/targets that u can skip over. You really do have a bad-mamajammer of a machine...one that may even find targets in sanded in conditions too!

Thank you so much everyone! I just ordered my Stealth 720i from Sunspot Products. The $$ are adding up, so I need to get in the water and get some rings.
