Lowjiber Sep 25...GOLD!!

Here are my points from Sep 25th. The the gold bracelet points have been approved for the contest by RelicHound.

Update 9/30: Had bracelet tested...disks are 18k and remainder reads 16-17k on a meter at Treasure Cove.

The bracelet was about 6" deep in pretty soft soil. MXT registered a "scratchy" (because of the chain?) +8. It required no cleaning other than rinsing under faucet to remove the dirt. It is in absolutely perfect condition...my wife's wearing it today.;)

The tokens all are the same except the one on the right is slightly bigger than the other six. No text on the fronts...just an emblem and the initials "RWM" at the bottom. Back of each is a "sunburst". All were found in a 20' x 20' area in the same park about 2" deep. VDI= +72

Sorry for the picture quality. My scanner's been down and I took these with my webcam.

Respectfully,

John

Lowjiber Oct 6th...486.25 Points To Date

Here's my hunt yesterday.

Found my oldest wheatie...1928D

The small medallion is 12K Gold Filled. I know it doesn't count for points, but included the pic of front/back for those who might be interested. Sorry it didn't clean up very well...must have some copper in the base.

Respectfully,

John

Lowjiber Oct 10 Tokens...545.25 points to date

Yesterday, I returned to the park where I found 7 tokens and a gold bracelet on Sept 25th. I found some clad which I will post later. However, I hit the jackpot with 9 tokens!

I'm posting the finds and attaching another picture with all 16 tokens found in the same small park...unbelievable. Most of the tokens are the same design, but two different sizes.

Since I'm in the "photo mode" for posting the token story elsewhere in the forum, I'm only posting the token pictures and points. I'll include the clad (very little) in my next hunt post.

This puts our team at 545.25 points as of Oct 11th.

John

I returned to the small park where I found so many tokens (16) on previous two occasions. I hunted an area 15yds X 5yds today and found 10 more tokens, some clad, and a silver pendant.

Pictures of today's finds and tally sheet are below.

I know the sterling pendant is not worth points, but am including pic anyway.

I'm also attaching a picture of the park from Google Earth and a scan showing all 26 tokens (16 previous + 10 today) that I've pulled out of there on three hunts.

I haven't even hunted 20% of this place...it's my new Honey Spot. It's produced an 18K bracelet, a 925 pendant, clad, and 26 Tokens!!!

Lowjiber finds Oct 16th...663.0 points to date.

Returned to my Honey Hole today with small DD coil to hunt a trashy area.

Four more tokens, 925 spinner ring, copper ring, clad, and tabs...pics below.

The 925 is very small...won't even fit my little finger. Pic of 925 stamp is about as clear as I can get...I have it soaking in jewelry cleaner if another is needed. VDI was solid +89.

Copper ring is kinda neat. Dolphins are outlined in copper with patena in between....ring is basically copper. VDI was a scratchy +57.

Actually found five tokens, but lost one somewhere between the car and the scanner. Only am reporting the four that I can prove.

Thanks,

John

It looks like you found a great spot John. Congrats! I really like that 18K gold bracelet that you found. Also, cool skull ring and nice sterling silver pendant. You guys are going to score some serious points with all of those tokens!

This tiny park is incredible. I'm convinced that it has never been hunted. I have a hard time finding a place to ground balance the MXT without something being under the coil.

It's not even on any area map that I've seen. Found it on Google Earth and went to investigate. You cannot even see the park from the street. It's located at the base of a mountain and surrounded by trees. There is a tot lot there, but nobody uses it...I don't waste valuable hunting time there.

I haven't found any silver coins there yet, but most of the clad that I find is circa 1970-80. Until the contest is over, I can't any reason to hunt anywhere else...the points per hour are awesome.

Hey Lowjiber if you need a reason not to hunt that hot spot theres seven teams below you that can think of a good reason for you not to hunt it . . lol lol

Thats great finds , you did good keep it up . All I can find is clad and pull tabs seems like . congrats on the finds HH Harold

Just a quick two hours in my Honey Spot this morning. Tried another small area to check out the distribution of targets for future hunts.

Got six more tokens and a Wheatie...57D.

That's a bunch of Qtrs!!
There's so much money in this park that I've been able to be selective. With only six weeks left in the contest, I'm looking for silver coins, wheaties, jewelry, tokens, etc. I'm skipping Zincolns unless they're an easy flip.

Once you get cozy with the MXT, it provides a ton of information in the headset. I've had the gain cranked up most of the time...thank God for the limiter circuit in my high impedance headphones!!!!

Adding the Sunray Probe really helped in trashy areas...pull the intended target without messing with the trash very nearby. Since it disables the search coil and replaces it during the dig, I can actually read VDIs of two targets within inches of each other...makes for a quick recovery with a minimum hole requirement. With the gain on max and fairly damp soil, it's amazing how deep it will read.

I'm having fun in this park because it's such a challenge. As I mentioned earlier, I don't think the place has EVER been hunted...there's too much "stuff" everywhere.

Let me know if you wanta go sometime.

Back at Honey Spot for two hours yesterday...different area. Since time was critical, I focused only on VDI's greater than +72...thus so many dimes.
