Okay, normally I would avoid posting pics of trash but I am including them for now with TID numbers as part of my education using TID numbers so you can see the numbers I got before digging. (My Nox 800 outdoor "class" in my yard Friday (yesterday) was just over 3 hours)

I edited the pics to include the TID numbers before digging each find, I wrote them down on paper as I was detecting.

These are posted in the order that I dug them:

Let me say about this next dig that I realize the odds are against that metallic rock being a meteorite, later I need to scan that "rock" by itself to see how it reads, also I will scan several large rocks I found in my yard years ago to see how they ring up as a magnet is attracted to them)

The canslaw was in the same hole as the "rock" but my pinpointer also sounded when pointing at just the "rock" by itself.

Not sure what is in this hole as it was deep and I realized I would have needed to dig a lot wider hole to get it out, but it felt like bent up metal so I am thinking it was just trash. This bottlecap was in the same spot but I forgot to write down what it rung up as before digging, after getting the bottlecap out I still got a pinpointer signal so kept digging.

Part of my digs was in areas I thought might have a better chance of dropped coins, like in front of my "country style" basketball hoop setup, and yes, it is attached to a pine tree , and near the smaller canopy were we had picnics before. The Rosies were actually founded further away in my yard.

Equinox is great at sniffing out the coins but i would recommend going by tones then check your numbers . I dont dig if the tones aren't what i want to hear. Alot will have to do with the amount of trash and how you have your machine set up .

Thanks, yep, good point, the more I use it the more I am getting used to the tones different things make with the Nox 800, I'm starting to get to where when I hear certain tones to pay closer attention to the numbers

To reduce unnecessary digging I also scan both directions to try to get the number to repeat, like I had a time Friday where I got a TID of 30 but could not get it to repeat scanning in the perpendicular direction.

I see you are finding out there are variations, such as one dime reading 26, and the other at 30. A zincoln by itself wouldn't normally hit 26, but the button in the hole with it likely effected it. Those pulltabs sometimes come in at a solid 13, or 12 to 13, just like many nickels do, but usually hit a 14 or higher.
I always run 50 tones on my 800, and my ears get accustomed to picking out the "good" tones. I can hear if a coin is deep or shallow, too. After I hear what I think is a good tone, then I might look at the screen for the TID. Sometimes,(often) like with good, obvious coin signals, I don't look at the screen at all. You are in 'nox training, and home-schoolin' yourself quite well. Keep it up!

Thanks, those variations can have you finding something other than expected, like the 30 I was figuring a quarter but found a dime, that's fine at least it wasn't trash

I also afterwards though about that metal button affecting the reading of the Zincoln.

I have passed up a lot of 12-13 signals in my yard as so far they have not been any nickels with the ones I tried, but I might go back and try some more just to be sure I'm not passing up any nickels.

Hey, I'm having fun home-schoolin' with my Nox 800 ! :mder:

Just wait till I get to college level learning
