So I found this in a high trash spot that has activity back to colonial times.
I haven't weighed it yet but it's not ferrous and I think maybe brass cause doesn't feel as dense as lead.
Looks like possible sheering from machine marks on the rectangular side.
It's mostly rectangular but rounded off on one side/corner. Either by design or wear.
Also 4 grooves on the one smoother side that look like they came from a filing/grinding type of wear.
No lettering or makers marking as far as I can tell.
Never found anything like this.
Was thinking maybe a file or sharpening/ honing tool or a striker of sorts for a tinder kit but I have no clue.
