If that were my yard I'd still be out there with a flashlight  That's a nice day of digging, congratulations!!

HOLY COW!!! That is one big ingot :wow::shock::yes: Backyard you say:?: High wall fence:?: I would have looked around for "witnesses" and then:
1) whacked him with a shovel while walking behind
2) dig a LARGE *cough* "plug"
3) take *cough* MY find
4) roll the body in the hole
5) put the plug back on and
6) stomp on the ground until nice and firm

btw... don't forget to poor water if the ground is a bit dry so as not to kill the grass:D What can I say, the economy is hard these days:roll: OH, AND I would have a "NEW" detector to boot:p:yes::laughing::laughing::laughing:

JUST KIDDING Metalwrkr

HH \_ to all of you

Lost Ring

The ring had initials in it. I am already in touch with the School Alumni and we are working on finding the owner. The problem is not matching the initials to the owner but finding where the owner is now. We will see how everything plays out.

Congratulations on your super finds. The crest you found was from the 9th Infantry Regiment (Manchus).
THE 9TH INFANTRY INSIGNIA: The 9th U. S. Infantry is believed to be unique in the distinction of having an authorized individual emblem in addition to the Regimental Coat of Arms. This distinctive insignia consists of an "imperial five-toed dragon", head to chief facing dexter, encircling a disc bearing the numeral '9' and the motto "Keep Up The Fire" around the edge of the disc. The insignia authorized by the War Department, was created as a memorial to the Relief Expedition to China. It was originally designed to be wom with the "Sam Brown" belt as a waist buckle by officers, and on the leather waist belt as a waist buckle by enlisted personnel. Miniatures were worn by officers on the service hat and on the mess jacket, while these same miniatures were to be worn on the front of the service hat, midway between the band and the crease by enlisted personnel. A miniature in the form of a pin is presently worn centered on both shoulder loops of the Class "A" uniforms and on dress uniforms by all personnel. Enlisted personnel also wear the miniature insignia centered between the green piping and the band of the garrison cap, at a point approximately one inch to the right of the front center of the cap. It is also worn centered on the field cap.
Here is the link, hope it helps give some identity to a already great find. http://www.manchu.org/
