We have finally turned the corner and headed for spring here in Connecticut. I made it out today and tried a new spot that I’ve had my eye on for awhile now. Up until a week ago we had snow on the ground and a few inches of frozen ground to get through so detecting has been on hold, and boy did it feel good to dig a few holes. I tried a spot that has a very primitive cellar hole on it and I ended up having a great few hours. My very first hole was a screaming 27 on the nox and it ended up being a New Jersey copper at about 2 inches deep. Then it was button after button and one of them turns out to be really cool. It is a political button supporting the Whig party in the midterm election of 1834. I did some research and the party was formed in opposition to Andrew Jackson. I guess you never know what’s going to come out of the ground but that’s what makes this hobby so enjoyable. Thanks for looking and I am thrilled to be able to finally get a shovel back in the ground.
