Update.

The government have now extended the lockdown on all citizens for another 3 weeks this will make it just over 6 weeks on full lockdown.

Any idea how they will lighten up on restrictions when they do? Certain groups allowed out but others not allowed out?
I am waiting to see how they do it. Let's be totally honest here, people with pre existing conditions like obesity, diabetes, or folks over 60 years old are far more likely to get severely sick if they get corona virus than other people. Unfortunately just people with obesity or diabetes are almost 50% of the US population, going to be hard to keep that many people inside forever...

At the moment no idea and more so with our death rate still going up (888 last 24 hours) on a daily basis.

My good lady and myself I'm guessing will be the last to be allowed to go about our daily lives due to the most part our ages.

53 years of marriage means we are more than happy with our own company.

But still we would still like to see our family again more so because we have 2 new 4th generation we have not seen yet.

I hope you get to see the new little ones soon Doug!
Hang in there, no one enjoys being stuck inside, but it seems to be the right thing to do for the time being.

No one here is stuck inside. I work with thousands, we don’t know of anyone sick. Hospitals here are laying off hundreds of staff.

Hang in there Doug. Do keep in mind that the number of deaths in a day is a rearward looking metric. Those are people that got infected two or three weeks ago. What you want to monitor is the 5 day rolling average of new daily positives and observing if they are on a downward trend. I say rolling average, because you'll have some random ups and downs from day to day that the rolling average will smooth out some.

A second metric is the doubling time of new cases (how many days for the total number of cases to double). You want this to lengthen from the initial 4 day doubling time, to get beyond a week or ten days. If those two metrics are showing good, your country is on the way to lick this bug, as long as people stick with the social distancing, wearing masks....

Last, but not least, TEST, TEST, TEST. Not for antibodies, but for the virus. With approximately 30% of the infected people not showing symptoms, you need to have extensive testing and isolation of the positives and contact tracing. Here in the US, we are doing such a pi$$ poor job of testing that I think it is almost certain we will have a second wave.

Jacksonville Florida opened one of it beaches. We shall see in two weeks wether it was premature or not.

Rudy, I have been watching the numbers closely here. Two weeks ago they were going up and average of 12% per day, but over the past week they have average less than 8% increase daily.Going in the right direction but not over by a long shot yet...
Total cases in mexico, which has taken EXTREME measures are at 6875 cases, with 546 deaths and a low infection rate of only 54 cases per million residents. Extreme measures work...

I’m afraid after all this restaurant will be a place I use to go to.
With all the restrictions that will be in place it will not be enjoyable and do to all the restrictions that will be in place the cost of the meals is going to go up to cover their loses. So as friends have told me in their cases they are saving so much money by not eating out all the time. So I’m afraid for the food industry their s going to be a serious problem.
By the time you pay the bill and the tip ( I’m for paying tips ) it’s might get to be too expensive. And those fast food coupons and $9 pizza take outs may be the future for many especially for those like me on a fixed income.

Yes, containment works. The doubling time in our county has gone from every 4 days to every 8.6 days.

My wife and I have been together 57 years, married 52, so we "used to each other" so quarantine has not been too bad.

Conratz on adding to the family linage!! Hoping you get to see them soon!

I am 74 and haven't been going anywhere. I have my son do my shopping for me. The only breathing problems that I have are the same ones I had when I got out of the hospital in Vietnam. The VA says it never happened and removed my hospital stay from my records. I need to get some fresh air. My neighbor used a fireplace and the smoke bothers me.

Remaining patient.

Fortunately, KT resides in a pretty much rural area and The Royal Castle sits in the middle of a 5 acre estate, large enough to allow external activities without encountering any local inhabitants. The Queen and KT, both being in the high risk category, old folks and KT with diabetes, began early to self isolate, at least a week before any word came down from the USGovm't guidelines. The Queen is happy to be a homebody, so KT gets the assignments to pick up the preordered groceries, get our meds though the drive thru, etc. and to gas up the Chariots, etc.

There are a lot of small things to keep us busy and time seems to be passing quickly. Our Church has been closed for several weeks by order of the local Bishop...good thing too as most of our Church members are older than us! A real first here is the closing of our Masonic Blue Lodges by order of the Grand Lodge of Arkansas. kT misses these activities, but they will come back in time.

Arkansas, perhaps due to the overall low population density, has not been hit terribly hard, but we do have a few city hotspots, including Little Rock, Pine Bluff where 1st case was reported, and a couple of Federal prisons and a few nursing homes. Testing was slow to initiate here, but is now ongoing for most with any kind of symptoms.

We were told yesterday by our governor that the State would start to open up on Phase 1 on May 5th, but most community activities involving gatherings would remain closed.

Its just time to catch up on home activities, enjoy who you are with, and have patience. Better to do that than be a patient!

Hang in there everyone, and this too shall pass!:yes:

Were still in. Going to get more information this evening by a press conference.
Hope the measures will decrease. Getting corona bored.

Our local hospitals and doctor's offices have been opened up for "non-essential" (sic) tests, procedures and surgeries, since the overburden didn't happen. I had a PSA test and a yearly Echocardiogram last week. Since my followup appointments were pushed back, I won't know any results till June.

Corona bored is better than Corona dead!

But i personally are not that affraid for that.
My wife working in health care had 'more then one' unprotected contacts with corona patients for many weeks already, and she and we still don't have it.

We even think we already had it and probably are resistent (otherwise, why are we still not infected by the unprotected contacts?).

So yes, dying by it is bad. The worst. Don't need to remind me, living in the outbreak area in my country and with first degree corona health experience in this house, and knowing people who died by it.
But for me in person the boring from the lockdown still is more relevent.

Update.

My wife and I are going in to our 6th week of lockdown on a personal level.

We are both in to a routine with the end goal of coming out of it at sometime in the future.

Statistically I am in the top 10% of fatalities and my wife is in the top 20% so we are very aware of social distancing which just may save our lives.

We have had no physical contact with any of our family other than through social media, this will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Stay safe.............Doug.

Many of us are in similar boats. We have developed as nice routine.

I have to confess, it is much easier for us retired folks! :cool3:
