Colorado Seal Button ID

Greetings and thank you in advance.

Usually google/forums are my friend with regard to ID but I can't find much of anything on this button.
I didn't include its profile - but its flat (unlike some of the larger dome buttons from civil war era).

The best guess I have is a Colorado Militia button pre WWI. But I'd love a date range or history! I am a beginner when it comes to these. The construction and general look matches a WWI Army Gen Service I have but this is in far better condition.

Site dates to about 1880's - have found Indian - head cents there.
