I've tried to find a way to clean a special silver coin, but I'm just too afraid I'll screw it up. My oldest American coin is an 1835 capped bust half dime. My only capped, and in fairly good shape. I'd probably never sell it but I still don't want to mess it up. It still has a lot of black tarnish on the face side from years in the baking Kansas sun. Finding a capped coin in southwest Kansas is pretty rare. All I've ever done is run water over it.
