don't go buy a $1,500 - $2,500 detector. Start with something like a Simplex2 or Equinox 600 or any other decent mid-level priced detector.
You buy an XP Deus II, Nox 800 or CTX3030 or Etrac, you might just be overwhelmed with the technology.
You any of the above midlevel detectors will do the job, easy to learn and you can concentrate on having fun and learning about metal detecting not complex signal processing.
