Hello everyone,i have this bounty hunter fast tracker metal detector pcb and there is a missing capacitor positioned at C18 far left near the left knob for the sensitivity..its narked as C18.
I could find a loose capacitor in a bag where i kept this pcb this capacitor i found is marked 25 v/100 uf
Also there is another capacitor on the same board with the same value 25/100 . I would like to get help decide weather the missing capacitor is rated 25/100 or something else.
Note that i attached a picture for the same board with minor additions for another metal detector, the bounty hunter tracker IV complete i got from Google which i believe bounty hunter used the same pcb on 5 deferent meatal detectors they market.

Wish, I could help, I started " as many with Bounty Hunter. Good luck. I think it was a Land Star, but had problems right away, with it sounding off on ferns. and whatever it hit.

100uF is correct, and 25V is more than enough. Personally, I'd put that board in the Hopeless bin.
Thank you Carl for assuring me .
Could you also know the the potentiometer right and left which one clicks and the Ohm value for
each because i obtained this board from somebody who previously altered some components trying to fix it after he got it wet .also why you think it's hopeless 😞 that board is used with 5 other BH models so it should be a great one 😀

I am in the process of making a replica of this board through reverse Engineering.its simple board i think ,i will update you with the results,do you think it's a good Board at all ?

They don't make any click sound so is this a fault within or the click sound comes from a missing external part
The pots I see in you photo appear to be missing the on/off switch. In other words, they are probably not the original pots.

As I said, I would file it in the Hopeless bin. With a lot of effort it might be fixable, but for $50 or less you can find a used one on eBay that works. If you are doing this for funsies or to learn how detectors work, try the Geotech forums. If you reverse-engineer a schematic, post it and I will check it over for errors.

I appreciate your willingness to help truly ,the thing is after i used to own many detectors in the past i only have that board along with couple more yet not a fully functional metal detector,
I live in Egypt (North Africa)
I need a DIY pcb for a metal detector for Gold ,just Gold because i go to the beach and there is many good finds there ,i can't afford a trademark at all at least for awhile 😉 so what do you suggest?i already saw few on eBay but they are PI clones without discrimination.
I will definitely seek your help when i DIY anything ,i learned alot about electronics recently just for the porpuse of making a metal detector.

Hello, I recently broke my detector and it is exactly the same model as in the thread. Specifically, I need information about an element that burned out and I cannot read its values. This element is probably the transistor marked Q3 on the board. And from what I see, someone has already replaced this particular element. The only thing I can read from the burnt part is "2."

IMO Unless you are an electronic tech, trained in replacing chip components, not elements, you will not have the expertise or the skill to change chips, it takes special tools, years of practice. You will damage the board by lifting a pad.
#2 If you do not have the mfg. schematic with a parts list and part number you will not be able to order it, generic chip transistor? Don’t think so. Or where to order it.
#3 If I was looking at a board hacked up with a transistor with a hole blown in the top, wrong pots, missing caps, NO SCHEMATIC TO TROUBLESHOOT it. IMO I would take Carl-NCs advise.

Q3 is a Darlington PNP transistor, MPSA63 or equivalent. It drives the speaker/headphone so I would also check to see if the speaker is bad.
