Boots for stream detecting...

I read one reason is because they are difficult to disinfect so you could potentially spread disease/evasive species from one body of water to another. That might be the only reason.

So far looks like only these places have banned them:

Maryland.
Alaska.
Missouri.
Nebraska.
Rhode Island.
South Dakota.
Yellowstone National Park.

I’m in N.Y....still legal last I checked.. but yes..environmental concerns...could always go with rubber soles and use strap on cleats..here in upstate NY we just call them all korkers...good for ice and slippery rocks..an actual pair of Korkers brand will cost a little more but are of good quality

Thanks, guess that makes sense. With all the stupid laws and regs they seem to pass these days you never seem to know if there is a valid reason or if it's just someone who owns a business and is related to someone in Congress that can help diminish the competition.

Maybe you could just go the cheap route and take a pair of your old sneakers and some short britches and hit the stream. When you get back to the truck just slip them off and slip on flip flops or such. I am assuming that you are only talking about spring and summer hunting. Winter hunting is a different story which would require heavy socks inside the sneakers and long britches:)

Got to watch where you go stream or water hunting. Any stream I go to check out I make sure I have on my bib waders because of homes , illegal dumping, rotting animals to people dumping raw septic waste into it.

This is defintely what I do when it's warm enough out. I'm mostly talking about winter or early spring/late fall when it's too cold to just wear old shoes and shorts and dive on in ...lol
