* Bigtime Happy Dance .. * The Value is In *

Congrats on a great find wow. That was pretty cool that your jeweler didn't want to take the chance of it getting lost or stolen in the post. When you do bring it to some one don't let it out of your site. Man that is a pretty ring.

I have now got the ring safely secured in a Jewelers safe for the time being.

One last photo,taken this morning..:cool:

Wow! How did i miss this? Likely the find of the last several years:shock: I found out about European cut diamonds the hard way. A friend found one huge stone ring. Went to a couple jewelers and they said it was a european cut diamond. Didn't think to check to see what that meant and sold it cheap.He gave me half the money. I should have bought it off of him. European cut diamonds not only are mostly from the 1800's. But they also bring higher premium from people looking to repair other old jewelry with them. Those stones also look flawless. So you are really talking about a chunk of change! There are a few diamond cutters making old style european cuts. But not many new ones exist.

Amazing ring I bet the person that lost it was either really upset, dead or had so much money that it wasn't a big deal. Either way that's one heck of a gold ring. Congrats!

The Value is in..

* A$10,804 ( US$11,370) *

Regarding the valuation of the ring I think a few members where a bit high on their forecast,whilst I myself had no particular expectations.
I always felt that 10k would be incredible so I'm certainly not complaining.

So it just goes to show that it's out there .. right place,right time. ::)

Thanks for all your interest & support,

Meggie ...

Thats just amazing!! If the stones were cut in the 1890s, it makes you wonder how long its been waiting for you. A year? Or maybe a hundred years? Id prolly lose it turning cartwheels that same minute:laughing:
