So I did some detecting at Baby Beach in Dana Point. Didn't find much, saw a few holes where it looked like someone else had hit it. Then the next day was looking what I missed on YouTube... And lo and behold there was the beach, at the morning low tide whereas I opted to detect it during the evening low tide. Too funny.

Some places you really have to be on it for so many hunters are retired. I wish more around here did video's and shared..everyone is tight lipped and share nothing. Even my old hunting partner finds a beauty, all of us don't find out about it till winter.

Doho Bbeach sucks ! Occasionally you might get lucky but I gave up that spot years ago. It gets slammed by the noobs because it's an easy beach to hunt. Even saw a YouTube video of a guy I know hunting it just last week. And he hunted the otherside of the jetty where it is all rocks. Hunt where you want , just saying that beach is a waste of time. You will have better luck on the otherside of the bluffs , known as the strand. But it is a hike.

Was that Robert Ferguson's video? He hunted the seaward side too before hitting baby beach :P I think I hit it in the evening low tide after he made a video of it during the daytime low tide... at least his video came out the next day after I hunted it.

I've hunted baby beach a couple of times but never found much worth going back for other than the summer scenery.
For me there are some different kinds of fishing I do... One is fishing because I really want to catch some fish. The other is fishing because I really am enjoying being outside and want an excuse to wander around the shoreline. Then there is fishing because I really don't want to be back at home sitting in front of some type of screen... I think metal detecting falls into the same category for me, although since I've never had any really amazing finds I think it generally falls into the latter two of the three categories for me. :)
