Still recovering from 3 marathon days hunting in Missoula with Lovestheshiny and Buellride (summary to follow from David in good measure), thought I'd get out for a couple hours to hunt a 1920's vintage house that is to be demolished to make way for a 50 or 60 house development. In it's past the property was actually a farm. I turned up a couple of wheat pennies in the front yard with several clad quarters as well, and then unearthed the Merc for a nice mark on the day. Wandered into the back yard and recovered several more clad quarters along with a number of dimes as well. Then I came across a perfect 35 signal on my Nox 600. A great sharp two way signal. I was thinking likely some kind of bottle cap or other random piece of round metal like a washer or large piece of pipe fitting, and so dug the plug anticipating something disappointing. The target was in the plug, and I carefully removed some of the dirt to find a portion of a silver disk revealed. I didn't recognize the coin and so only learned what it was after I got it home and gently cleaned it. Imagine my surprise to discover that it was an Australian Florin. 92.5 fine and just about a third of an ounce. This baby was a long way from home. After recovering the Florin, I also found a silver button about 3 feet away. In all, a great 2 hour hunt.
Thanks for looking and happy hunting.
