Anyone else need background noise when they sleep?

If I had one I would sleep in a sound proof room, I don't like any noise at all when I am trying to sleep. I remember years ago I went on a satellite call out in the middle of nowhere, he wasn't at home when I got there but thought that he was because I could hear a radio going. He pulled in about 5 minutes after me and I said I thought that you were here I heard a radio or something, he said I lived in a big city for years and got used to the noise and now I don't like things too quiet.
Bongety, bongety, bong, bong, boop!:laughing::laughing:

I was in the ceiling fan business for 25 years but I also sold desktop, oscillating and stand fans all year long including in the winter when most other stores did not stock them.
I had several customers over the years that were desperate to find a fan in the winter after theirs broke for their bedroom, not for the air but for the white noise.
One guy had not gotten a good nights sleep for two weeks till he found me.
He was so happy he said he was putting me in his will.

Several others bought small, cheap desktop fans to take with them when they traveled for hotel rooms and sea cruises.

Currently, my wife, who has "internal thermostat" problems and has a very hard time staying cool all year long has me sleeping in a bedroom with windows open, the ceiling fan on high and a stand fan also blowing tons of air on the bed.
This would be every night including when temperatures go to the 20's and even lower.

I am slowly changing from a human being into a Popsicle.
