Admit your weakness

Diggers and the BoomBaby show are pretty terrible. I couldn't watch them more than a couple of times. Too over top.
The meteorite hunters show though is more reasonable. I don't watch it very often because I think it's pretty repetitive and I guess I don't care enough about meteorites.
One thing I hate about all these shows (beyond over the top) is when they show people detecting they always have them moving forward too fast and scanning with big gaps of coverage. I guess it's way too boring to show the real deal.
I guess people don't get it in general (the scanning thing). I had somebody approach me in a local park that was maybe 3 acres with a request to help him find his lost keys. I really wanted to help him but he couldn't narrow down the locations at all and I was trying to explain to him that the coil had to go over the object and that takes time. I searched a bit as he frantically ran all over the place.
I am interested more in videos that show people detecting rather then their finds. Stuff like how they scan or dig etc. This stuff wouldn't interest others and in fact would bore them so we are doomed to hate any program about detecting.

I watched it last night. I want to see them make a real metal detecting show where they don't have all this virgin land to detect. Make kg and the ringmaster hunt on public hunting land like tot lots and see how many people keep watching them pull junk out of the ground. The only thing that makes this show continue is ppl watch it. If they weren't hunting historic sites on every show then ppl wouldn't care to follow the program.

I'm kind of glad they get to detect on the properties that they do. Most of us will never get the chance to hunt on the places they are hunting so good for them. I mean that's what were about, saving history, so at least we get to see some of the stuff that's in the dirt on these cool spots. Watching them detect parks would be boring:lol:

I started detecting when I was 7 or 8... took a break until last year with my BH. Then at Christmas, I got an AT Pro.

I saw Diggers in January, I admit, it got me more motivated to metal detect.

I like the show, tbh. It's fun to watch, and it's interesting.

We need people on Youtube to make a metal detecting T.V. show! :D

When I first watched the show I was disgusted with the whole new lingo thing. Over time I've mellowed on the subject, they do seem like good guys and it's cool to see them detect such amazing sites. I'm about to admit my weakness, I've grown to actually enjoy the lingo!:shock: Earlier it was on and I was in the kitchen. From the other room I hear KG say, "I got roundness in the pock!" Yep, I laughed. I feel shame.;)

I really cringe when hearing their lingo and seeing some of their antics, but I think it's just a gimmick for better ratings that may even be forced on them by the producers as seems to happen with some of the recent reality shows. Aside from that, this show is what got me interested in finding things with a MD, especially the old coins. Love it when they pull something old out of a hole!

Kind of like how on that Pickers show the tattooed gal who holds down the main office and does research while they're out on the road? Danielle I think? She was never a part of their business, the TV show found and hired her because they thought she brought an edge with her look as well as some eye candy. She now has her own business right across the street from theirs, thus proving the popularity of their decision.

The lingo and antics are the same way for Diggers I'm sure but for people involved in the hobby I find it insulting. I mean, for that show on the Odyssey, I don't see them doing stupid antics all the time.

I like the show, yeah they act sort of goofy sometimes maybe over the top. But they seem like really fun and easy going guys. I like the little history lessons they give and the side bets. That savage show turns my stomach though.

I think people(HOME OWNERS) who don't really know about metal detectorists. Stereo type us after seeing the show. I wouldn't want someone on my property, acting like; well you know!!!!!! How many times has any of you climb a tree, crawled through a dog house, rolled down a hill, because you found something cool? I usually move on to the next target. I know its TV:p
