A pirate's POV on keeping booty???

If somebody asked me to find a ring they lost, gave me a detailed description and walked me to the spot they lost it then sure I'll be proud to hand it to them.

If I find one by sheer luck

(that's what my wife calls driving to a beach I researched with $1000 worth of equipment and hundreds of hours of experience and finding a Gold ring, luck )

Then it's all mine.

I returned the first gold class I found, took my time and effort to locate owner, it was a girl still in high school, so I met with the mother to return it.....she went off all disgruntled how she was gonna kill her daughter for loosing it and was so mad her daughter never told her it was lost, blah, blah, blah......not one single THANK YOU for returning my daughters GOLD RING that I bought for her. Nothing, nada, zip. I was so disgusted from then on, it turned me into a pirate instantly.

the only item I would return would be to the person that comes up to me telling me they just lost this or that while I was out detecting.
the find of the life time I found recently I did contact the umbrella guys and the hotel on the beach to see if any one lost something of great value. umbrella man said a lady did lose something and was glad it was insured

I did two returns in one day last summer. One was a mens band, 28 years old [the ring].

Took me ten minutes. After I found it and the dude an his wife jumped for joy they took a pic...I shoulda had them send me a copy. I got 5 bucks for reward. The reaction was well worth it though.

Next one was sunglasses. Expensive ones. That guy gave me 20 bucks for finding his kids glasses. 25 bucks in one day lol. And DCR wants to ban us.

Oh yeah I agree... just this past Saturday I searched for a ring for a guy down the street... my hunt was unsuccessful because in his garden he turned over was full of hundreds of pieces of aluminum and iron... he told me when he bought the lot it was a dumping ground... I have also been asked to hunt for items and found them... they offered a reward and I would never turn down found money

The thing that really cracks me up are the one sided karma folks..

They say, return it, and get good karma...

Well, karma works both ways, two sides to that coin...

Maybe when pirates are on shore, they do some good deeds, and the rings they find is karma working? Also, maybe the person that lost it got their karma dish served proper too???

Threads about morals and right and wrong should be right up there with politics and religion threads, theres no place for em imo.. This is not about morals, true pirates can have morals, but they leave them on shore with everything else important like woman, children, smokes, truck keys, and cell phones...
