I've probably cleared 150 rings already this year, and I've been hunting less than ever. I've found that I've been able to use the Garrett AT Max to really hone in on penny signals that "aren't" pennies. The difference in sound is subtle, but has really improved my find rate digging up rings. The number of silver rings has obviously spiked, and my careful attention to hunting locations that are "hunted out" has ended up with me bringing home some nice golds along the way, too. The 45-diamond halo ring came out of a "hunted out" park this spring. I found it in about 6" of ground (probably been there 10-15 years, which puts it right when halo rings became popular). It was an iffy 45-59 signal that I dug out of curiosity, because "when in doubt, it comes out." Was blown away when the ring came out of the dirt. It's the last picture in the group. The ring and about 43 cents is all I pulled in the 90 minutes I was there. Was pretty dang empty. Best of all, it fits my wife's right hand, so now she's got some snazzle to go with the dazzle wedding ring on her left!

I'm at 10 gold rings for the year, all schools and parks, land hunting only. I'm at 112 golds lifetime (7.5 years). Still puts me at about the 8% mark for golds, which interestingly, is where's it's pretty much always been at the end of every year (give or take .5%)

This year, from those 10, I've gotten two returns, one big 17-gram class ring, to a guy who didn't even know it was gone! (His 8-year old was probably in for quite a conversation that evening, when I explained I found at at the elementary school his son goes to. LOL Guess he wanted to show up all gangsta.) The second return was the teardrop shaped diamond ring. Someone asked me if I found it. I never quite confirmed he was the actual owner of the ring, but I screwed up and sent a picture in my excitement. I think I was scammed out of it, but live and learn, I guess! Next time, I'll send a picture of something that is NOT what I found when I ask, "Is this it?" I'm an idiot, I know. LOL

The rest of the pics are various rings I've found this year. The three chain rings in the picture were found on the same day at the same highschool in three different fields at the high School... all different rings. Was a weird day.

Message here is keep on digging, folks.. and don't be afraid to dig penny signals that aren't quite right. While none for this year, yet., some of my biggest golds come from the penny range.

Note: The first picture is of a hunt about 10 days ago. I typically average 3-5 rings in a hunt, but this day, I pulled 12! Yes.. that handful of rings is from a single day (albeit, two locations, one elementary, and one jr. high). The haul included a few silver rings, too, which were quite nice!

Cheers!

Yup. Been a while since I've been on the forum. Haven't been posting all the gold rings, this year. Still out having fun, though!
