KT met them as He came in from lunch. It is a glorious day so KT rode the mighty Royal Steed to give it a bit of exercise and to catch some fresh air!

These Walkers with exception of the 38, were all WWII babies, children of the greatest generation, as is KT. Thus His Majesty has a great affinity for these Ladies. KT received them in the Royal Courtyard and the Royal Kitchen Crew gave them Punch and Cookies. Then it was off to the Royal Baths for them to look their best for the Royal Photographer.

Enjoy the group picture!

4 of those in one hunt? That is great! You must have a good site there, probably more to be rescued.
Maxxkatt, these are not from MDing, nor even Coin Roll Hunting. KT has not MDed in 10 years, and early last year quit CRHing, when his banks cut His Majesty off. Nowadays, these are all coming off of eBay, when KT can get them at a reasonable price, based on their silver content. KT does not wish to mislead anyone, but to simply show that once a silver hoarder, always a silver hoarder!   You are not the first to think this and likely will not be the last!

I guess I am not following the thread carefully. About 10 years ago I started buying silver coins off of eBay. My favorites were Morgans. I have accumulated about 30 of them. They have almost doubled in value since then.

hmm...streetwalkers show up at thy castle gate...me thinks a new brothel as arisen me-lord!

You are a fellow silver aficianado, maxxkatt!

When KT could no longer MD due to a cancer diagnosis, and then later when the knees went bad (He could get down, but had great difficulty getting back up) He came up with the idea to be a coin roll hunter, and was doing that to the tune of 5 boxes of half dollars a week. That lasted for 7 years, until Covid took it away. Once Covid was over, the bank would only allow KT to purchase 1 box a week, then the excuses started coming, we forgot to order for you, etc. So I gave up CRHing. And started the purchasing of silver halves, been active in those efforts ever since. No interest in selling, but since His Majesty has only one son, Prince John, it will be the basis of his wealth, and something, if he retains it, to be of interest and value gifted from his father.

KT simply spent more time accumulating silver halves than silver dollars, because of the collectors premium on that larger coin.

His Majesty is glad to have you as a reader of his Royal Posts, maxxkatt!

I too tried coin rolling with little good results. I live in the suburbs of North Atlanta. I talked to a guy up north who used to do quite well in the coin rolling hobby. But, he did not get his coins from metro Atlanta. He said the amount of silver coins from metro Atlanta boxes sucked. I agreed with him. He said he took a weekly purchase trip up to the mountain still somewhat rural area of Georgia which is about 100 miles north. Then he would dump his boxes back in metro Atlanta. I was not willing to travel that far so I gave up coil rolling. He said there were more silvers in circulation/boxes in that area. I don't doubt him.

Never thought about buying silver fifties. Makes lot of sense. Yes, Morgan's do have a specially place with collectors. Mainly because most Morgan's are in very good shape because over time the Fed government just stored them in banks and post offices. They were minted for political reasons, eg to keep the western silver mine owners happy. Mine owners were probably contributing heavily to the politician's election funds. Nothing really changes much in politics.

Now I see why you stick with the silver .50 coins.

I bought $3,000 worth of quarters back in late 2010 or early 2011. Pretty proud of myself. Until....
they killed Bin Laden and the price of silver plunged in half on that good news. Sold my quarters later at a big loss, because needed the money at the time. UGH! Hey, all markets do go up and down.

I am still active with metal detecting, but slowing down. My CTX3030 got too heavy for me about a year a go and bought XP2 with 9" coil. It is a featherweight. Relic and coin hunting in metro Atlanta is tough with so much trash and the detectorist using some new pretty good detectors in the late 70's and early 80's did a good job of cleaning out our old parks of old coins. The same goes for Civil War relics. But we all have to deal with our hunting sites, so it is still fun to get out. And when you do find an old coil or civil war relic it is a celebration.

You have have noticed Rattlehead had a stellar two day hunt with a sterling spoon and US box plate. He has a really good permission up in north GA. My MD travel limit is about 40 miles from home round trip. Years ago I could handle 80 mile round trips. But getting thru the bad Atlanta traffic is not worth the effort any more.

Royal Thanks for that interesting personal information, John! When a youngster, I was a penny and nickel collector and when the Hunt Brothers did their thing, KT realized the fallacy of his ways! But His Majesty never lost his collecting interest in coins....I should say collecting of anything! HA HA At one time it was Case damascus steel pocket knives...KT found a knife dealer going out of business in Texas and bought what could be afforded at the time. Since then, I have visited many gun and knife shows and never seen one for sale....I gave most of them away over the years to close friends and relatives, but still have 2 left in the original wraps and boxes...new old stock as they say! HA HA Then soon after that, I started collecting postcards from my home town of Hot Springs National Park. This was when eBay had first started up and things were being listed very cheap. Hot Springs was an International tourist town due to the thermal baths from after the Civil War. Pre-post cards came into existence for the tourists to use to write a short note home in the 1890s and then real penny postcards started up in the teens. My collection consists of some 1200 pcs of scenes, bathhouses, mountain and city views, and I even have a couple with my middle brother and even me at about 2 years old with my mom and nana walking with a stroller on Central Avenue! HA HA But as the prices got higher and higher, I dropped out of collecting PCs as it was becoming too competitive, and expensive. Just before I retired as a geologist with the State of Arkansas, I started MDing, and you know the recent history!

So I have been a collector all my life, stamps and coins early on, then rocks and minerals for over 50 years, now back to silver coins. But I do not consider myself a simple collector, but a hoarder! HA HA Just before I started CRHing, I got interested in mint error coins, and at that time they were selling fairly cheaply on eBay, so I spent 2 years and a couple of thousand dollars on them. All now in flips in sheet holders in a large 3 ring binder stored away with my postcards and all that other stuff! HA HA Again when they started to become very expensive, I gave that up as I had most of the common and quite a few rarer error coins. They will only gain in value, because they are collector items.
