What are you basing that on? Just because it was posted on April 2nd? Also, the OP was adamant that it wasn't a joke. I would think he would have said so by now... 2 months later.You all do know this was an April Fools joke, right?
The coin is obviously a fake and to me the OP's comments and some others' comments seem very tongue-in-cheek. But I guess it can be hard to detect tone on text comments. I can't tell if you are still in on the joke or not.
Hmmm. If anything, I would say the OP'S follow-up posts, are the opposite of tongue in cheek. Also, just because the coin is fake, isn't any evidence that it's an April Fool's joke or not
My view is that it is a joke. But I can't say for sure. It could be that the OP was serious, and some people took it as a joke, while others didn't notice it was fake and took it seriously.
The gold coins I have either found or tested were never in the Aluminum range. You better be digging zinc pennies or higher.
Yep, at least on the big ones. My Double Eagle which is also 1oz coin, rang up in the lower copper penny range.
If say a nice zinc cent registers an 86. A 10$ gold eagle is an 86. Will say the OP's post of the face of the coin before cleaning is a dead give away it isn't a gold coin. Let me see if I can dig out a better heart stopper pic.
Sorry to burst your bubble but its fake. The US Mint didn't make 1 ounce gold coins spelled DDLLERS on reverse.
