One of my tasks working at our local 1858 Old Lighthouse Museum (which keeps me so busy these days) is going through old local newspapers. This story caught my eye: (the last part is missing).
That is the original location. In 1904 though a new lighthouse was constructed more northward on the lake, which still remains. This one was abandoned and almost was razed before our Historical Society got it and made a museum of it. See below for a vintage pic before it was enlarged. We also use it as a base for our local historical FB group. BTW I also post on your Porter County History Unleashed FB group.Very cool. Been by there many times. Was it moved from its original location? I might be thinking of somewhere else. If they give you a greenlight there maybe you can do around the Zoo tower down the road too. Best of luck with the permission and thanks for being a helpful part of that Light. The Life Saving Station there sure kept busy in the early days.
