    First Coin Find

As the sun started to set and it got cooler (been very hot here in Central VA) went out and found this about 6 feet off my front porch. It was about 2" down.

    3 Barber Day!

It's dreadfully hot here in upstate NY, so the motivation to go out and fry in a hay field is not very appealing right now, even if freshly cut. I went door knocking and found an old house with a large woods area that use to be an early 1800's farm field, all in the shade. I decided to detect...

    First silver coin, 1948 quarter!

Thanks everyone who has contributed their knowledge here. It has help me pull this quarter from about 5-6 inches in an old pounded park in Indy this morning. It gave me a clear 38 on the Minelab Quattro as I was griding a section of a field. The only other not trash finds were these two crusty...

    Coin Star find!

I always check the Coin Star Machine when I leave the supermarket. I've found found couple of silver dime over the past few years but today was better. A 1964-D silver Washington quarter. I haven't gone out this year yet so this was a nice way to start! :D

I only had a little more than an hour to hunt but I was just hunting some cow pasture along a creek that used to be a corn field long ago. I know some folks like to camp out there so I gave it a shot. The last thing I expected was this old quarter to pop up. She's not mint but she's beautiful to me.

Little luck - never hunted out

I've detected my yard several times. Every spring when the ground is moist I turn up the sensitivity and hit it slow and different angles. I begun to dig any nonferrous target that so much as bleeps once. Also dig large iron and begun to see if it is masking any good targets. Put on the big DD...

2 barber quarters same yard 5 years apart

5 years ago I found a 1916 quarter near the front porch. The day before yesterday, I located a 1903 in nearly the same spot. I use the V3i with the 4x6 shooter.
