Equinox Settings - forget what everyone else says do it yourself.

There are a lot of posts on various metal detecting forums asking Equinox 600 or 800 user what settings they use. In my opinion this is not the way to go about deciding what settings you should use for your Equinox. Why? Other people’s settings are for their specific type of soil and the types...

Considering carbon fiber shaft for my Nox 800

I am thinking of getting a complete carbon fiber replacement shaft and counterbalance for my Nox 800. Anybody out there have this setup on their Equinox? with their 11" coil? is it worth the extra money and what are the benefits?

    coil design for water use

most people agree that the Equinox 15 x 12 coil is too hard to swing in the water. I wonder why coils could not be designed like a leading edge of a air craft wing, or a slim wedge like on both outer left and right edges to make the coil easier to swing under water. Does this even make sense?

can't get Miccus SR-71 to pair up with Nox 800

tried everything and nothing works. Sad because they are good earphones. I can use them plugged into the WM08 module. Bought Tzuni Soundmate wireless bluetooth 5.0 ear buds at home depot for $29.00 and they pair up nicely on the Nox 800. Actually don't sound too bad. They tend to have more...

share some equinox TID's on Civil War Relics?

Can anyone provided some Equinox TID numbers on various Civil War Relics you have found? Also the depths that you recovered them from? I am starting to hunt Civil War battle and camp ground sites here in Georgia. Much appreciated.

    Learning your Equinox 800

on one posts or reply to a post I pointed out that air test were worthless in comparing different detectors. Now I have to correct myself. It depends on the type of air test. If you are just doing depth air test, I still agree they are not of much value. However other air test are very...

    Garrett sitting around doing what?

Ok, first off this is NOT a thread about which make or model of a detector is better than another one. This starts to many verbal jousting matches. It is a business and marketing question: Why Garrett is not responding with new detectors to counter the Equinox, Vanquish and Simplex+ which are...

who is now using the Simplex+ ?

Anyone using a Simplex+ now? If so what are your observations so far? In a previous post I stated that I was considering selling my Nox 800 and buying another simpler detector. Well I decided to keep my 800 and buy a Simplex+. someone said wait till the Vanquish is available in the US. The...

thinking about selling my Equinox 800

I have had my 800 since march 2018. Yes, it was a long learning curve for me, but I stuck with it. I am not trying to knock the 800, it just may not be the right detector for me. However, the main thing I don't like about the 800 is it jamming too many targets in a narrow 40 slot TID range...

Finding Deep Targets with Nox & 15" coil Question

I have the 15" coil for my Nox 800. I have not really dug many deep signals due to the summer and early fall drought in the south. Now rains have come and the dirt is now moist. Question on faint signals. Will a silver dime laying flat sound pretty much the same at 11" deep as say 6" deep...

    Helping a neighbor

Had a neighbor in a nearby neighborhood contact me about locating his property markers (rebar). Piece of cake right? Found out that the marker in question was located somewhere in corner of yard right were underground power, cable lines were buried. My 800 was going crazy no matter my noise...

    Metal Detector Arms Race

Ok, some rules on this discussion. Let's try to keep it away from my detector is better than your detector. I know that will be hard for all of us. When did it start? Who Started it? For the sake of this discussion let's assume the arms race was started with the introduction of the Garrett AT...

5x8 inch coil for the Equnox

Would be very interested in seeing a 5x8" coil for the Equinox. Most of my targets are in the 4-6" range with average to above average amount of junk. On my AT Pro the 5x8" coil was my go to coil. I wonder why no one is making this coil for the Equinox.

nox 800 and 15" coil info I learned

This was posted in general, but I copied it here because it is technical and could be helpful to those considering the 15" coil for the nox. I cannot get used to hunting with a recovery speed of 4" which is recommended for the 15" coil for some reason. I forgot the reason you have to use the...

    The vanquish?

    Advice to Nox 800 newbies

This advice is from many years of metal detecting and switching to the Nox 800 after using the famous Garrett AT Pro for 3 years. First off let me say the AT Pro was probably the most widely used mid price range detector ever built and for many good reasons. The Nox 800 is a completely...

Equinox 800 has been out in the field over a year - results?

Ok guys, I see people are still considering buying the Equinox 800. I have had mine since March 2018 and it was a tough machine to really learn coming from the AT Pro. So what is the verdict? a) make all other VLF machines obsolete? as claimed by Minelab? b) not worth the money or too hard...

Equinox 800 threshold using in park and field question?

on the Equinox 800 does anyone use a threshold pitch in park or field to help id targets or rejected targets? As for me, I don't have a clue if this is any benefit or not. I know in gold it defaults to a threshold pitch and volume.

    Equinox cuff

I find using the Equinox cuff around my arm is an annoyance when taking off laying down the detector when digging a plug. So I don't use it. what are the benefits of using the cuff? Am I missing something here? The only think I can guess is it reduces fatigue when swinging for longer periods...
