Would you open it ? Opened see P.9

Perhaps he is going to SSSSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWLLLLLLYYYYY open it up over a one year period.

Giving us day by day accounts of what is going on.

I predict a year from now he will have a small hole drilled into it and he will post a picture of a faint gleam of gold inside.

lead melts at low temperatures. Just take your time and slowly melt the top off til you can see inside. You can always put it back. small torch should do the trick.

Do you think a torch or soldering iron is the best way to go ?

At 1st I was thinking of just chiseling it, but melting the seal will probably be better. I'd like to keep the box as intact as possible when I do finally get to it.

Hacksaw ?

Dusty...X-raying it would not be effective. Since it is most likely lead, all that the x-ray would show would be a white square. Ever ear one of those lead coats that prevents the x-rays from hitting other parts of your body? ;)

Might I then suggest a Ouija Board..........the x-ray comment was in jest, this Ouija Board comment is 99.999999% serious.......:roll:

The way I feel right now, I think I could bite that thing open:lol: (I wouldn't open it either,at least for a while) I think all the suspense is in the unknown, might be a big let down?....Curt:grin:

As an aside, the place where I found it was a school built on donated land. The family is one of the old town families from way back. One of the descendents had an interesting story published in the local paper about his relative who had the main structure built. It seems he made a lot of money, not sure how, probably back in the early 1800's. He needed a bride and located one in Boston at a house of ill repute. She wasn't very popular back in that Victorian era, but he had a statue of her, marble I believe, commissioned, carved and displayed in the old home. At some point in time after their passing, some local "hooligans" broke in, stole the statue, and supposedly dumped it in one of the local lake/ponds. To me, finding that statue would be more interesting than what might be in my box.

What ? No interest in the statue ? Oh yeah, marble probably would be hard to detect.

All kidding aside, with Memorial day weekend upon us, I will probably open it with the hopes that it will be memorable. A civil war dogtag would be nice !

Sorry, it is impossible to tell text that has sarcasm. My sincerest apologies. No sarcasm at all.

I would say a time capsule also. The only problem with that is I dont think the school would of coated the thing with molton lead, Theres all kinds of hazards there. I dont think its a urn for a pet either because urns dont get burried!I dont think the box is solid lead....but lead coated (sealed). I'm hoping a 1892 time capsule with some cool treasures in there.

But I agree with the majority...Open it already! Youtube it also. Dont tell through the forum.
