While I could not make the trip back to my history I sill got to get out for some local short hunts. During this last week I made it to a park in a near by city. I have hunted there a few times and have had both good and not so good outings over the years. This park is connected to a grade and a middle school and being a school day it was in session. So I had to stay on the far end of the park and evidently it was a area that has not been pounded. Was digging a little bit of clad along the street edge got near the corner of the block I got my coil over a screamer that showed between 7 to 8 inches. The edges of a very shiny disc at the bottom of the hole after tipping the plug was revealed. Both sides of the disc were covered with thick heavy black loam. Was very happy finding only 4th ever Silver Kennedy Half and it is only the 2nd ever 1964 90%er. I believe the Kennedy's are the hardest of half dollars for a detectionist to dig from Seated coins going forward. Continuing the hunt I dug a Merc maybe 8 feet from the Half's location and a Silver Rosie about 20 feet from there. Made for a pretty great day. I was able to return to this site 2 days later with a lot of hope in having even more success. Well things again started slow when I was about to call it a day I got a hit of what was a clad Quarter signal but it showed over 10 inches down. I have dug Silver Dimes with this numbers and depths so that is what I was expecting. Another surprise was revealed as I recovered yet another large disc only this one was green and covered with a lot of crude. This coin is what I think is a Large Cent but is heavily corroded so I can not I'd it positively. It has been 4 years since I have dug a big Copper so again I'm very happy. Advancing about 10 feet from that spot I put a Silver Washington into my coffers and another 4 feet from there I added a Merc. Now I had intentions to return to this park on Saturday but was invited by another detector to meet up with at a different park. This one I had never been to before. It was really nice getting on new grounds only bad thing the other guy was a no show So I was solo again but the Silver appeared 3 times in a 4 hour hunt. All were Dimes, a Rosie ans 2 Merc's. The 8 Silvers I dug last week now has my count standing at 85 FTY. As always thanks all for looking. On to the next. Trapper
