Update your Profile and Signature

Would be nice to require everyone to post their location, even if it's just their state. You'd have to be pretty paranoid to think posting your state might reveal the location of your secret honey holes!

Putting in your account profile signature area the make and model of the detector you are using and your location does help other members be a little more specific in answering any questions about detecting you may have.
Mine's been there for a while...

:cool3:

Did you guys know that simply turning locations off, putting it in airplane mode, or even shutting it off does not prevent your phones location from being tracked. As long as there is a connection between the battery and the device then it still sends signals to nearby cell towers and Wi-Fi connections and the location data is still tracked. You essentially have to have a kill switch between your cell phone's battery and it's system to truly be untraceable lol

Yup. I'm one of those paranoid guys. I don't need big brother spying , knowing my every move. Every paranoid thought I had back in the 80s is now coming true when it comes to surveillance and people used to laugh. Recently i needed this companies app , but when I read the details they wanted my location at all times. Even when I wasn't on the app , it would run in the background. I said no thanks. Anything sketchy , turn the phone off or I don't bring it. But what's happening more and more is some local cities are incorporating license plate readers when you come and go , placed at strategic locations. I read plenty of crime reports on how guys are caught. So this is both good and bad.

Older phones are the key here. Remove the sim card and battery. I recently met a guy who runs a fugitive recovery task force. Kinda like a Dog the Bounty Hunter. He says this is the only way because everyone uses cellphones and is on social media. His UC car has a ton of high tech gear and is badass.

You are correct KOB. If you have an older phone, as in 20-25 year old phone, you would be okay by pulling the battery but even in more recent flip phones that aren't even a "smartphone" you essentially have to disconnect the battery from the entire thing in order to complete go dark. There is so much running in the background of phones that people generally aren't even aware of. I have been in law enforcement for years and have seen many examples of this ruining a few alibis. lol

The only way I see someone’s profile is accidentally tapping on a name so I think most people don’t care about profiles, until now of course lol.

Yes , and if you call 911 it locks you down , I did turn my phone off , it's the only way to get them off , I liked my S6 replaced the batteries , the new one's have to many settings , and every time it updates it installs games , I have to delete them  My biggest complaint is say in the middle of the night , the phone looses WIFI connection , no way of knowing , unless you check your phone , does anyone have a solution for this , let me know.

Yes , the Administrators are overwhelmed with spammers. They don't need to know what you have , and were you are :nono::hide: in my view :scope: Some that used to post gold find's here, were followed, they even new were to look & what car you're driving, not good in my opinion, but everyone has a choice, happy hunting !

I wouldn't quite say overwhelmed, Earl. In fact, this forum software helps us weed them out a lot easier than the old forum software. Though we do seem to get more attempted registrations by spammers than we used to.

Correct, which is why you never carry a cellphone with you if you're going to commit a crime. I see it all the time on "The First 48". They ask a suspect where he was at the time someone was murdered and he'll claim he was 50 miles away from the crime area. They get a warrant to see his cellphone records and bam, he''s busted! His records will show exactly where he was at the time, even if he didn't use his phone.

Glad I'm a dinosauar and don't even have one of those newfangled things! I'm going to annoy the heck out of the police when I go on my crime spree! Lol!

they listening all the time from space too so even if you didn't own a phone or computer ,didn't have todays smart tv's .....anyone who didn't think they were going to use spy technology since the 70's to spy on everyone including those they claimed to be protecting with it was a fool . phones are always listening even if you don't download apps ...every device has been turned into eyes and ears .

They've also set up automated cameras to catch you speeding through areas with ridiculously low speed limits. They're making a killing on this deal, since they'll give you a ticket even if you're only one or two miles an hour over the posted speed limit.
