I'm trying to figure out why the birthday list near the bottom of the Home page only shows birthdays of members that joined last year along with the staff. I'm thinking that Birthdays of members joining before 2022 did not get imported into the new forum.

Can some of you check your profile to see if your birthday date is missing? It seems that if you did not join the forum in 2022 or 2023 then you will not show up in the birthday list.

On the old vb forum there were at least 30 birthdays every day. :cake:

Thanks for checking it out! So, birthdays are currently set to show up only for members who joined in the last 5 years? Personally, I think it would be nice to have all birthdays. For myself, this coming April will mark 6 since years since I joined the forum, yet I always think it's special when someone reaches out to me on my birthday. And I know that quite a few of the other frequent posters have been around even longer than I have, yet these people are often the ones I am most apt to send birthday messages to. 🎂 😊

If necessary, maybe there's another way to filter which birthdays show up... for instance, only members with at least one post? That would at least filter out all the people with zero posts. 🤷‍♀️
We agree that...

I don't want to know when my birthday is... ;)

Carol mine is in there , but wish it stays private , till your day comes, every year , thanks Earl
So do you mean that your birthday is in your profile, but did YOU click it private, or did the import of the forum set it as private?

I have noticed that as well, that it seems to not be showing all the members with the current birthday. I had thought it may have been only people that have logged back onto the forum since the software switch over, but it looks like that isn't the case either.

I think its set as private , let me know , profile page set to members  I am not a computer expert like you & Vlad :tiphat:
I can't see when yours is, so it's set on private. :good:

To change how your birthday displays, go to your Account Detail.

Thank you! I didn't realize there is an option of showing the month/day or year or both! :cool3:

Although mine is currently set to show month/day, (which is how I had it on the old software), I can't recall whether I had to adjust that setting since migrating to the new one. Sorry, my input isn't of much help here!

I've noticed the missing birthdays, too, and it's nice to know that you all are working on it. Hopefully, the issue is one that can be solved without too much hassle on your part! Thanks for everything you're doing, Carol. 😄

Well, we found the missing birthdays via an addon to the birthday script. We have an option to show avatars as a circle or square (I prefer the square). (Seems like we have enough circles on the forum with all the rings, and coins and coils etc. )
So some of the themes we are working on still haven't been updated.
We can also show as many birthday members as we want to, but we settled for just showing the last 5 years. Showing all members still puts about 30 birthdays up per day. Not sure what will happen on Jan 1st.
If you think we should add "all members" then let us know. Maybe we should. I sure we have members here that have been with us since the beginning.

We agree that reaching out to friends on the forum on their birthday is a good idea. I like passing out birthday cakes. :cake: I guess I misunderstood what the script was saying. Vlad says all active members will show up in the list on their birthday, as long as they have been active the past 5 years. :cheer:
(Unfortunately we don't have an option to filter out names by post count.)

I like that, showing users who've been active in the last 5 years. That alone will rule out a lot of users that have 0 posts, because they likely haven't stuck around. :good:

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks, @Carol K & @Vlad!

By the way, these "solution banners" (or whatever their correct title is) are a nice feature! :waytogo:

To be clear, those members that have not checked the "Show Birthday" box will not have their birthday shown, correct?
Also, many members have selected a random date like Jan 1st of whatever year. Is that an issue?

They will be in the list, but it will not show their age.

Not an issue, as long as they are active in the last 5 years.
