Well to start off I need to thank jshanks on the forum here. We hunted a few weeks back with another friend of his at the homestead/field site. Well he encouraged me to try curb stripping as I was apprehensive to try. So last night I looked at some maps and used historical aerials as well and picked an area. This area consists of quite a few turn of the century homes. I planned initially to cover a few blocks maybe more but the initial house it’s curb strip was where everything was found most on the initial side I tried. Needless to say I stayed in front of three homes for 4 almost 5 hours.

So here’s the three homes I went in front of.

This house was built in 1899 according to the owner. His curb strip is where I found all coins of importance. Later in the morning he came out to work on some raised beds he was making and gave me permission to do the yard which I will at a later date.

This home is from 1923 they gave me permission to do there yard. It was small found most of the clad there and the Mattel car.

This is the oldest home of the three 1889. The strip was small and owner wasn’t home.

So I have never knocked to get permission yet. But each of these owners came out except the one so I asked and they said yes.

So I started off and within maybe 60 seconds first wheat then a memorial then a wheat then a wheat then a junk target then an Indian and it just kept getting better and better.

It kept going and going. Found a Rosie a Mercury (my first) And eventually about 3 hrs in I got my first barber.

So all in all it was my most productive day yet. Got more confidence to do this in public and also talk to owners. Found my most silver to date (4) and most wheats in one day (8) and most Indians in one day (2) so three personal records for me. Also found a 1901-1911 peters shotgun head stamp and a salt or pepper shaker lid. So overall here’s the break down or wrap up I suppose.

Congrats on a fabulous hunt .All the photos were great .That's a great looking neighborhood , great homes and greenery . Unfortunately , in my immediate areas most of the grass strips have become concrete strips .

I would also like to say I did run a coin shooting program the one from dig it detecting. He is out of Australia. I didn’t use 8 recovery speed I ran 6. I also ran iron bias at 4 not 2 like he recommended. I think the mode made it easier on me I have tried other setups but this one may be a keeper for the curb stripping. :dingding:

Anyhow thanks for looking and until next weekends adventures on the curb strips good luck and happy hunting.

Yeah most areas are heading that way. Hopefully we can get at them before there gone.

Great play by play and great pix. Love the on-location pix!

Thanks Tom.

I plan to do more curb strips and potentially ask for permission. I am over the wooded sites. Especially for the summer it’s a pain in the ass swinging in there. This is easy swinging and so far successful but that changes each outing lol. Took me almost three years to attempt in town detecting
