Antique pendant hallmark

I found this at an homesite that was inhabited late 19th-early 20th centuries. I can see the designs around the perimeter and what I take to be a hallmark. I have searched to no avail for an identification. I do not know the composition of the metal as it clearly isn't precious. Might it have been plated with no gilt remaining? Any leads or ideas are appreciated

Can’t tell what size it is but going to say it’s a wrist compact.

This is really helpful. I found that listing after you posted your picture and it makes me think I need to gingerly clean the interior to possibly gather more information. Thank you.
