Found this near a 1700's era cellar hole in northern Vermont. Roughly 6 inches across and very heavy. I'm guessing it is a sewing machine wheel, but after searching hundreds of photos of vintage sewing machines I've failed to find anything as ornate. The outer edge is indented, which I assume threaded a leather strap/cable. I've cleaned it up, of course, but it was about 8 inches down and pretty rusty when dug. Any ideas?
Here is a site I found helpful when identifying mint marks and assayer initials on reales. The Spanish Crown authorized the minting of coins from various countries and this site helped me determine where my reales were minted and by whom.
