I went back to the spot I was at yesterday and in 45 minutes I dug several buttons, some shoe buckle pieces, a king William the 3rd and a KG3. It was an insane spot and I had already hit one of the fields and pulled six coppers and a bunch of relics. After going there yesterday and spending maybe 45 minutes in a different location I had to drag myself out of there to save it for me and my dad to hunt it together. I set it up where we could just show up this morning and get to work and my god it did not disappoint. The shoe buckle guts was my first hole and maybe 10 feet away I dug the frame that seems like it’s a match to the tongue and chape. I found a few buttons and then the coppers started to flow in. The first was the New Jersey that is in absolutely gorgeous condition. I love it because you can see where it was clipped for whatever reason. The next was the 1730 KG2 which is also in amazing condition. The next was 1787 Connecticut copper in very good shape. The next was a KG2 in great shape but it looks like it was hacked at on the reverse for some reason. Very cool looking and I’d love to know what happened to it. Then a few more buttons, one of which has a glass “stone” in it that is the first one I’ve found like it. I’m guessing it’s off of a woman’s dress. Then I found a random piece of silver. It’s silver dollar size but super thin. It has a small design on one side and the other side is stamped the initials CP and a date of 1904. Not sure what it came off of but probably something pretty fancy. Then the coppers started coming again and out came a first for me. It is a William and Mary halfpenny that was only made in 1694. It’s tough to see in the pictures but it’s probably the oldest copper coin I’ve ever found. Then came another KG2 and then came my favorite find of the day. I’m guessing it’s a wiped KG2 with the number it beeps but it has initials stamped into it and the initials are from the original landowner that built the house in 1820. Obviously the all of the finds are pre 1820 and I’m guessing this was a crop pickers token. My poor dad didn’t find any coppers but did find some amazing things. He dug his first set of complete colonial cuff links, a conestoga bell, a ton of buttons, shoe buckle frames, and while I was finding coppers he was digging wheats. He also found a very cool old bell that has India stamped inside of it. I’m guessing it’s from maybe the mid 1800’s and maybe a trinket someone brought back from a trip they took. We’ve maybe hit half of this place and we are welcome back anytime. I have already given the homeowner quite a bit of stuff and they are thrilled having us there as the wife did her undergraduate in early American history and really appreciated the things we found. I’ll give her the crop pickers token as that is a very cool thing to keep with the house as well as some of the coppers. The New Jersey and the William and Mary are staying with me. That’s now 16 coppers out of this place and 8 for me today. 9 is my record for one day and for awhile I thought I might beat it. Thanks everyone for looking and sorry for the long post but these types of days don’t happen too often. Also I would like to apologize to Tom for posting this colonial coin porn. Can’t wait to get back to this spot because we haven’t even hit the yard and the house was built in 1820!

Wow imagine the silver that might be lurking nearby! They clearly had a good amount of money for that time period. Congrats on the banner day!

Oh I forgot about the 1817 matron I found. That’s the only US large cent I’ve dug here and that will be donated to the landowner.

Glad you mentioned this one, because I was unimpressed with your initial post:laughing::laughing:

Are you kidding me? That's insane! lol, I believe I'd have had a hard time leaving as well, but I see you're saving it to hunt with your dad, huge thumbs-up for that one. Hope you two make this hunt look small compared to what you'll find, not to mention the best of all, those memories.

Definitely a "drop the mic" moment. What? No way! Don't drop that mic, get back out there and finish that song! We all can't wait for the next stanza...
