Great day today hunting the civil war site. I discovered Scovill 4 buttons total! 2 of them are the large "BS" buttons, and one is a cuff "BS" button, and the last one(I nearly died when I dug it up) is a North Carolina State Seal button with LOTS of gilt on it still:yes::shock:. It is a cuff button and is in perfect condition and I have heard that it is a VERY rare button. Possibly worth in the upwards of $2000.00 dollars:shock:. this is the link to a good button like it. http://www.civilwarbuttons.com/cs0807065.JPG There is a piece of rusted steel on the hasp eyelet that I left on it because I do not know if it will make it more valuable with a piece of unique Iron on it.:?: Take a look! I am very excited about it. Other finds of the day included a beat up Civil War clip-corner belt plate, and Turtlefoot this is for you: 2 shotgun shells from the 1800s. One is a WRA Co. rival and the other is a UMC CO New Club. Thanks for looking! Great day of digging for me and I am very excited!:D

Oh. My. Goodness. Holy cow, what a find! CONGRATS!

Edit: had to remark on the condition of that thing. WOW! AMAZING!

Man that NC State button is in outstanding shape. Sure not going to find many dug ones better than that. Looks like you have a great hunting location. Keep up the good work and continue to post. Those are some great pictures of the buttons. Congratulations!!

Sweet and I know I'm new to this and I had no idea shotgun shells had any importance at all!!! @ the 1865 house I searched the other day I found several and I didn't even look at the backs of them just chunked off as garbage!!! Ooops!! Rookie move!!!

Great finds. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE NC BUTTON!!!

I love the Rival headstamp. I always love it when I come across a black powder shell. Thanks for posting them.

Not really a rookie move. I honestly think I am only one of very few that keep them. They are my personal favorite thing to find and cataloging different variations has almost become an obsession of mine. 99% of the shotshell heads won't have any $$$ value, but they can be a great indicator as to when the area that you are hunting was used. To a limited extent, they can also help determine what an area was used for.
