Yesterday I found a large brass US button that has no period after the U or the S It is about the size of a half dollar coin. It had a triangular tab on the back that looks like it hooked into a loop. It is rounded on the edge and hollow in the back. I found this at the location of a field hospital site near a battlefield. Any ideas on what it might be? The letters are not straight edged but more like a cursive style.

Large brass button

Just looked at it closer and it had three hooks on it with two broken off.

I was finally able to transfer my pictures from my phone to my laptop. The more technology advances my brain retreats. Anyway here are a couple.

A poster from another treasure sight sent me a picture of one exactly like mine that sold on Ebay. It was described as a bridle Rossette from the 1812 Indian Wars or the Civil War.

I think this one maybe from the Indian Wars because of the cursive style lettering. The newer ones appear to be blocked at the ends.

I say later 1800s Calvary. Up to pre WWI -ish. Not as early as CW.

Yes post CW and its not a rosette, this piece attached to the blinder on the bridal.
