Well, here we are back home. Gee I feel like we we're only gone for the weekend, instead of three weeks!

We had a great time, and a great Thanksgiving dinner. Yum Yum.

Thanks for all the offers to stay, but we drove straight through on the way back too.

Hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving too.

I guess it's time to get in gear for some winter hunting.

Re: Heading to Indiana in Nov.

Thanks Epi, we had a great trip, and Vlad finally got to see what the Midwest looks like.

Southern Indiana

I'm willing to bet this is pretty much what Iowa looks like, right?

Kentucky

Kentucky was nice, but they do not take pride in their coffee! We never found a good cup of coffee in Kentucky.

Evansville waterfront

The first week we were there it rained all week. The Ohio river was above it's banks.

Here's a picture of the Evansville waterfront. It has been totally rebuilt.

In the distance is a new casino they built called the Casino Aztar.

cemetery hopping

My sister and I spent most of our time cemetery hopping. We have been working on our family tree.

Here is a picture of the gravestone of the mysterious LYDIA K, supposedly a native american married to my great, great grandpa.

It was so worn we had to try to figure it out with paper. 1833 - 1869. We have no documents on Lydia, but the story passed down is that she was found wandering in the woods as a young girl, during the time of the Trail of Tears. The Kennedy family found her and raised her and she married my great, great, grandpa. Cool huh?

cemetery hopping

The hardest and most disturbing was finding cemeteries in this kind of condition, with piles of headstones that were either stack against a tree, or in a pile like this picture.

I didn't do any metal detecting, but hunting and finding my long passed relatives was like finding a treasure.

Great pictures Carol, we travelled across the state many times and every state has something great to offer its visitors!

Great pics and great story. The Oh River is just now getting back to normal. It was almost there, then came back up some this weekend.

Next time swing by my place and I promise a good cup of java.

Kentucky Coffee

Thanks for the invite MXTswinger. We sure could have used a good cup.

One gas station we stopped at, the girl says, "Oh I didn't make anymore coffee because people stopped coming in." (It was 11am)

She gave me what was in the bottom of the pot (even tilted the pot) for free.

Another station we stopped at, I said, this coffee's pretty old. She said, Oh did you taste it? I said, I didn't have to taste it, I can tell by looking at it. She still charged me full price....

Plus everybody uses that powdered creamer! Isn't there any Hazelnut in Kentucky?
