Thanks for any info or help with age, ID, etc on this cool old pendant. Found in the front yard of a ca 1906 house in Missoula Montana. I have found 1870's uniform buttons at a few places in town as we did have Fort Missoula here during the Indian Wars up thru WW2... with the Eagle and Shield with "C" or "I" inside the shield. Thanks for any help, it rang up as brass or possibly bronze!

It looks somewhat "military" to me, like a key or perhaps watch fob--maybe from the 1870s or '80s, judging from the style, especially the rays shown on both sides. The stamped "5" might be either the number of a company or other unit billeted at the fort nearby or perhaps of a building or some other locked object there, for example a weapons locker. I might suggest reaching out to to the good folks at The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula to see if they may recognize it: https://fortmissoulamuseum.org/

Great photos LtS. Hope you find an answer.

Thanks and hope so too!

I wonder if it's a fraternal order of eagles pendant?

Thank you but probably not.
