The Courland Pocket (Latvia) - Metal Detecting Relic Hunting

As Ive looked throughout every page, I agree that these are all incredibly awesome saves. But my question is why the lack of Allied relics? Not much British or American metal relics seen. Keep up the great thread and Happy Hunting.

Thanks!

The Lend-Lease Act
The Senate passed a $5.98 billion supplemental Lend-Lease Bill on October 23, 1941, bringing the United States one step closer to direct involvement in World War II. The Lend-Lease Act, approved by Congress in March 1941, had given President Roosevelt virtually unlimited authority to direct material aid such as ammunition, tanks, airplanes, trucks, and food to the war effort in Europe without violating the nation’s official position of neutrality. The supplemental bill brought the amount of available aid to nearly $13 billion. This aid was intended to assist in the defense of nations whose security was deemed vital to the security of the United States. President Roosevelt, who favored U.S. intervention in WWII, advocated creating the program as a way to provide indirect support for the Allies without engaging the U.S. in a war for which there was not yet overwhelming public support.

Lend-Lease
US deliveries to the Soviet Union

A total of 22,800 armored vehicles were delivered to the Red Army during World War II, of which 1,981 were lost in dangerous Arctic convoys. These deliveries represented about 20 percent of the total number of armored vehicles produced by Russia during the war. Specifically, this was 16 per cent of Russian main battle tanks, 12 per cent of Russian self-propelled gun carriages and tank destroyers, and 100 per cent of Russian infantry fighting vehicles, as Russia did not manufacture any armored infantry fighting vehicles during the Second World War.

Lett,
I'm sure you know this but for the benefit of others I'd like to Identify a couple pics you posted in your first post. About the 9th set of pics you show a can that looks like the old Prince Albert tobacco can and a beaded chain below it. That was a cleaning kit issued to the German soldier. The beaded chain was aluminum oval beads with the last link being a slot to put a patch in the slot. The chain was dropped down the barrel with the slot first then when it came out the action, a patch was put in the slot and chain pulled out. They are fairly rare. I have one of the chains and stamped on the last link where the slot is it is stamped 1937 with the eagle and swastika in the circle...
I don't have the can. The can I think is more rare than the chain and in good shape could be worth a few hundred bucks....Just want to explain what they were. ...Pete
