Lovely photos Jim, you certainly get some colourful birds at your location.

You've probably mentioned it before, but I wonder what camera/lens you use ?
I use a Nikon D500, usually with a 200-500 zoom lens. I am looking at maybe
changing my camera next year. I like the look of the (yet to be announced)
Z6s,, Do I need it ?, NO !. Will it let me take better pictures ? Probably NOT !.
I do like the idea of an electronic viewfinder though, and with an adapter it
will take my existing lenses.

A man has to have his gadgets, and you can't beat some retail therapy

Hi Alan - and thanks for your kind comments on the bird photos.

As for the camera I am using; it isn't even an SLR with interchangeable lenses. Before I switched to digital, I had a PENTAX Spotmatic SLR with several lenses, filters, etc. I do miss the SLR for being able to manually focus, but since going 'digital', I've had a series of Canon "Super Zoom" cameras. My current one is a Canon SX60 HS, a 65X optical zoom built-in lens [21 - 1365mm equivalent in 35mm film terms], 16.1 MP. At my age (71) I no longer want to lug around a heavy SLR and lenses. So I know it's a compromise, but I make the best of it. For the bird shots I just posted, it was mounted on a heavy tripod and using a remote shutter cable to minimize camera shake and maximize sharpness. When hand-holding this camera, I use the eyepiece viewfinder, but when set up on the tripod with remote shutter cable, I flip out the LCD viewfinder. I use Google's Picasa photo editor, but it is no longer available to download from Google.

These cameras do have a manual focus feature, but it's not that convenient for capturing moving subjects. This model is a few years old now and possibly replaced by another. A link to features, photos and specs for my SX60 HS is: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/...l-cameras/long-zoom-cameras/powershot-sx60-hs

Another thing I like about a Superzoom versus an SLR with a bunch of lenses is COST.

There you have it. I've been found out.

Good luck with your decision on the camera.

Have a few more from around.

GOD Bless

Chris

Neat subject !!!! ....wonder if they are officially part of the Inn staff cleanup crew

I discovered their den, right smack dab on the side of the building, mama dug right under the slab foundation. Management will have them trapped for liability(fox bite).I'd say they have been there since spring.Surprised no one has figured out what that pile of sand is from.

Wow, foxes seem to be fairly rare in our local area, but if I ever see a pile of sand I'll know it might be a possibility

Here are more from the Cape.

Neat photo selections !

......the one with the "seemingly" giant bird (as compared to the person in the background) could be used as a vintage movie poster like for one of those old sci-fi movies from the 50's

"Attack of the Giant Mutant Sea Bird"

A few more.
