Spent Saturday morning and afternoon at a ghost town. The fog was thick when we first got there, but soon disappeared and left us with a hot day. Only stone foundations remain. A couple coins this time and a really nice suspender clip (I think it's a suspender clip) These ghost town hunts are tough. Riddled with iron, .22 casings, bullets, headstamps, etc. Thanks for looking.

Looks like a fun day. Lots of classic finds there - makeup compact pieces, pocket watch parts, clock parts, lantern parts, old coins... The only thing you're missing is harmonica parts. Does that lantern wick knob have a company name or patent date on the face?

You are so lucky to be able to hunt old ghost towns... nice looking hunt...love the suspender buckle and everything is not ruined by soil like around here...

Congrats on the beautiful V nickel, Ihp and all the other cool finds. Looks like you could go into the clock making business. sounds like a fun hunt. Good luck. Mark

Nice finds there Stiffwrists! That Liberty Head nickel sure looks good, and congrats on the other odd finds!

It's funny. Harmonica reeds and other weird instrument reeds are something that I throw away with the shell casings and bullets. There are so many of them out there. I think everyone must have had one in their pocket. The lamp part has no markings on it. I threw all those finds in the rock tumbler for a few hours to knock the crud off and look for dates. The suspender clip has an 1889 date on it and some of the clock parts have patent dates on them from the same time frame. I also did find a couple old clay marbles that I forgot to put in the picture.

Those finds are so well preserved compared to what i pull out of the soggy ground here in Minnesota! Though our soil isn't too hard on coins, it really eats up anything iron or steel based!

They really do hold up good in those desert environments. They are pretty crusty when they come out of the ground, but clean up well after tumbling them.
