U.S Scoop makers. Ever try a Honey Badger?

Can't figure out why people still buy the T-Rex , well know for faulty welds , and being one of the heaviest scoop's , keep us posted , if the manufacturer honors the warranty , my lifetime warranty SunSpot scoops , are going to Chuck if they break :yes: :cool3: AKA Owl Engineering :lookclose:

I'm sure Chuck is excited about that. But I have to ask. Have you ever broke a scoop before ?

You'd have to use them to break them. Don't get me wrong I like Surfies scoop and detector porn photos, if they got all beat up from use it wouldn't be as good.

LJS1 / KOB -- One-

Ash handle, sorry lived 130 miles from the beach , didn't make it here to my retirement home till 2018 , beach hunted on vacations since 2010 , work before than 50-60 HR. WEEKS ON ROAD , member here in 2010 , I am an occasional hunter , not an avid hunter , if your looking for a scoop tester- who breaks scoops on a regular basis , look at KOB , LJS1  , I use high end scoops here , I might break some more handles , but I will most likely never ware out scoops , sorry to disapoint you guy's , I know you all like sturing up the kettle , ask Robocop this question   PS Just because I have some nice things , or toys , doesn't mean I detect all the time , could care less about finding gold , hunted since 1976 , 1st machine , a Whites Coin Master 1976 . 1st ring found was a high school ring for my sisters friend 6 years older than me , in her yard within 5 minutes , cut the plug was about 4 inches deep , flipped it over , turned around said here it is , the smile on Vickie's face , here husband bought the same detector 1week later , a few years later Mike died of cancer , Live Long Stay Strong guys , I am a strait shooter , tell it how I see it , happy hunting .

Well , its true Surfmaster. Can't tell you how many I've busted. I was always brutal with them and didn't care. Knowing my finds will just buy another. But now I'm rethinking all that studlyness. Costs are high now and guys are either going under or can't get the material. Gigs latest video says he talked to John at Xtreme. Not good.

Hello Earl,
First I don't know if the guy who copied my Stealth is out of business. I don't like to guess.
It sort of doesn't matter. I have an agreement with the buyer of Stealth that I would not compete so it is more of a matter of if he wants me to take the line back again.

I think everyone knows that building scoops is not a great business, I did it more for the love of the hobby. There is a lot of competition now but 90% of the scoops are horrible with their main focus on low price and not a quality product.

Time will tell.

Chuck

Recommend me a scoop? Something that I can find in stock? I see most of what people mention are hard to find. I'm an occasional at best beach hunter.

RTG 7.5” Blade
Understand the hole size and what your target is. For the small amount of time I’ve used it I love it. But tiny items will get through. If you’re concerned with coins and rings you’ll be fine.

Why not

The RTG 8x11 aluminum with an ss lip & grab handle , occasional , thats all you need , Starv is still pumping out scoops also , RTG is in Florida . Stavr Ukraine .

I'm sure you've seen picks of my blade. Totally destroyed. But a good scoop , good price. My conditions and style of hunting are different than many others , which I need to change. 1st blade = less than 6 months. 2nd blade made custom about 3 years.

Occasional beach try an RTG. You can get an aluminum one and add a stainless lip yourself later or order one with a stainless lip. If you water hunt attach a lanyard. You drop it in the ocean they can be hard to find if you got bigger surf you are in. The down side is nothing on them floats. The stainless RTG's i have fixed a couple stainless handles that snapped in two.

Scoops in the wild

Sometimes you have to get them wet.

I'm on the great lakes, we get some surf but not usually too crazy.

No sold the DF , to make room for a PI ---AQ That went belly up , just sold a Stavr M-9 , so I could turn the throne over to you  :kingdances::kingdances::kingdances::kingdances::kingdances::kingdances: Robocop13 the King dances

IMO you should be good with an RTG. I had to retire mine. But it was due to dragging it for hundreds of miles making grid lines. We don't have rocks to deal with though.

I find I'm fairly easy on scoops, in 14 years I've broken 5..and that is the metal not the handles. I'm hoping the two I have now, ...720s.... I'll take to the grave.

What about the Miller scoop when you were hunting with us here in CT? Wasn't it the handle that cracked?

I remember Earl was afraid to put a scratch in his sand scoop while we hunted in the water... he used his scoop as a crutch

( I remember Earl was afraid to put a scratch in his sand scoop while we hunted in the water... he used his scoop as a crutch ) Sorry , when Captain Silver is pulling Standings 15 feet from me , I was dialed in on the beach hunting , finding silver , not gold , we don't find old silver on the beaches like that here , only occasionally , besides I didn't have any clothes pins for my nose , to kill that stink mud water smell at the time :laughing:

UPDATE : XTREME SCOOPS { LaborDay } Call Answered

Talked to John / Xtreme Scoops 1115am today , he's been down a while , still servicing scoops, Due to the - Supply chain issues, the covid pandemic , government wanting steel / they get it 1st ., the good news is , he found a new 316 Stainless Steel supplier , and a new laser company to help , plans to re-open in around 60 days , making the Surf Master X3 than later a Sand Shreader , as far a titanium goes , doesn't look like he will resume due to cost of Titanium - sky rocketing prices , even though he is not ready to give that up just yet , maybe when the price- drops , he will still have Titanium as an option , but it doesn't look good for a hunter looking for a titanium scoop. This is good news for member's needing a quality 316 SS Scoop , but bad news for someone who needs a scoop RIGHT NOW ! HAPPY HUNTING , Earl
