Another ring!

I found my very first ring yesterday, and today I found a second! Both rings were found in playground bark. Today’s ring is stamped S925 even though it is gold in color. Is it gold plated silver? Is that a thing? The stones definitely appear to be rhinestones. So, although it’s very sparkly, it has little value. It rained each day that I found a ring. The rain must be lucky. 😆
I would have detected longer, but as soon as the bark became wet from the rain, my detector went crazy. It rang constantly through all different signals, even when I wasn’t moving the detector. I messed with it for quite a while, but couldn’t get it to work properly. Is it normal for wet ground to mess up the signals?

Congrats on the silver ring! The ace 200 should work fine in the rain, as long as you dont get the control box wet. I assume you cover that while hunting in the rain? They do make control box covers too:

Good luck when you get back out there!

Congrats, very nice ring. On to # 3 now. Good idea to keep a ziplock bag in your pouch just in case you get caught in the rain. Good luck, Mark

I’m ashamed to say I did not cover the box, so that was probably my issue. It was only lightly sprinkling out, on and off, and I didn’t think it would be an issue. I won’t make that mistake again. 🤦🏻!♀️

Usually it's better to hunt wet ground. What detector were you using? Is it new?
This may sound silly but were the batteries low? Are all headphone and coil connectors tight? Hope you figure it out, if it was just sprinkling it shouldn't hurt I wouldn't think.
That ring would have made my heart skip a beat, nice find!

I was using my Ace 200. I’ve had it for 2-3 years. The next day it worked fine, so I’m not sure what the issue was. I changed the batteries 2 weeks ago. Either way, I did purchase a cover for the box. Knowing my detector is on the cheaper side (price), I’ve been a little rough on it over the years. I plan to take better care of it.
