Started hunting a 1800s farm the last hour of light today. Around the step to the summer kitchen I found six wheats, one nickel, one v nickel (1890?) and a silver quarter. A good start. I’m going back tomorrow. I’m hoping for good things.

Nice haul...and thanks for your post; it inspired me to google "summer kitchen". Just a few minutes ago, I didn't know what a summer kitchen was. Now I at least understand the term.

Went back this morning. Only found one more near the summer kitchen. But I had much better luck going down just one side of the walk. The other side had nothing. I stoped for lunch, going back this after noon. Had a good morning to follow up yesterday. Six wheats and a 1883 Indian

My thought about the summer kitchen. My guess is they where heating water to wash clothes. The coins where in pockets. Think of all the coins that end up in your modern day wash machine. There are cracks in the steps to the kitchen and I think there’s a silver quarter in there. I guess I will just have to be happy knowing it there. The pond beside has two silver dollars at the bottom according to the owner.
