I can’t believe that It’s still January and I have my 2nd Awesome find and a bucket lister of the year.
Was hunting down on an older beach that has had and has military activity in the area. Got a deep target high 20’s and low 30’s on my Nox.

I dug up this crusted heavy object that took a few moments to work out it was a shell fuse of some kind - it took a good soak in CLR to remove the crust and polished up really nice. The ID marks on the base are perfect and a guru on one of my detecting Facebook groups was able to give me the details it.

It’s a VSM (Vicker Son & Maxim - UK) Field Artillery 18 Pounder Type 80 XI Precussion/Time Fuze made 05/1926 was part of Lot 2 but for some reason was put back and processed with Lot 13 (most likely fail QC). The rest of the marks are the DOD & inspector's marks. These Fuzes were produced from WWI to the middle of WWII and mainly used in Shrapnel and Star shells

It so well preserved that it possible to see that it landed on its side (low trajectory) as the side between the 6 & 13 second timer marks is scraped away.
