So I finally have some stuff to post on here. After three failed attempts to get in contact with the homeowner where I found the 8 coppers a few weeks ago myself and my dad were finally successful. I had a a bunch of stuff for them to put in their collection and after loading it up and unloading it several times I was running out of hope. On a whim we pulled in and they were home so I was able to hand over the items that included a cow bell, a small decorative bell, a complete shoe buckle, a few buttons, a 1787 CT copper, a 1731 KG 2 halfpenny, an 1817 matron head, and another undated KG2. My favorite thing I donated was a wiped KG2 with the original landowners initials stamped into it that was probably a crop pickers token. This is one of my favorite finds ever but after careful thought I feel that it needs to stay with the house. The landowners could not have been more thankful and we were in again. There were people mowing the area that we really wanted to hit so we decided to go back over the area we hit last time to see what we missed. My first hole was a broken tombac button and then I found a really cool pewter button. My dad found a fired musket ball, a beautiful pair of cufflinks and a really interesting shoe buckle chape. Then in an area I know we both hit I get a bouncy 25-28 signal. After opening the hole up I knew I had old silver. I saw it but didn’t look at it and balled up the coin and dirt in my hand and made my way over to my dad for the reveal. I had seen the size but no details and I figured it was a reale. Well it turned out to be a 1765 globes and pillars 1 reale. It was stained even after rinsing it so the pictures are after a cleaning with some baking soda and water. My next signal was a strong high tone that turned out to be a 1797 draped bust large cent. I kept working the area that my dad had been in on the previous visit and got a choppy 25-33 signal. I got it out in one scoop and when I saw it I couldn’t believe it. Another Fugio and in beautiful shape. This is my fourth fugio and my second in a few months. We decided to hit the area we wanted to after the mowing was done and it was good but not as good as we were hoping. It was a little slow with signals very deep in fill dirt but I managed another draped bust, this time an 1798, and possibly a king William half penny. It only beeps a 20 and it’s super thin with a bust looking right. We decided to call it on account of it being beer thirty but we will definitely be heading back there. This place has been absolutely incredible with 20 coppers and 1 reale coming out with countless other relics. Not sure if we stumbled onto a tavern site or possibly a trading post but there was definitely money exchanged there for a long time. Every coin that has come out of this place is older than the house that is there. The house was built in 1820 but we have found no modern coins except for some clad and a few wheats. The homeowners seem to be as enthusiastic as we are and this has definitely been one of the best permissions I’ve ever gotten. I’m sure there are people out there that think this post is too good to be true but trust me these places are out there. Thanks for looking and hopefully everyone is finding some great stuff
