I had a facebook message this morning from someone I asked about a permission to explore. (It was a request that needed board approval as it's a private club property I was interested in.) Got the go ahead this morning, but was short on time due to some other appointments. However, I remember reading more than a couple posts about permissions, and the comments were basically, do not wait, go while you can. Yes's can turn into no's...so I packed up my stuff and after my appointment, ran over for an hour. It's a lot of space to explore so I just random walked a bit. Came up with a 1957 silver dime and two 1944 wheats, along with a handful of other coins. I knew I had a silver something as soon as I lifted the little pile out of the hole. It will take some time to do a good walk of the entire area, but I know there are more coins to be found, so this was a great start.

Today I went back to the permission property I was at yesterday. Having found a silver dime and 2 wheats yesterday, and lots of area to still survey, I was pretty sure I would find something more. Great luck was with me today. This property is very noisy as it’s used regularly for outdoor picnics and celebrations, so the detector is sounding off almost constantly. I had been looking around for about two hours and found some clad, but nothing special. I went to another area of the property right alongside an older building that was near the driveway edge. I was on a slight knoll and I got some mixed signals which I tried to narrow down by changing my position a few times. I zeroed in on a spot with a signal that seemed to be fairly constant 90. Started to dig and got down about 6 inches or so, and spotted silver come out with one of the scoops. Cleared it away and holy cow, I found my first Standing Liberty quarter. It’s in very nice shape tho most of the date is gone. However, the last digit 3 is clearly visible, so I know this is a 1923. I am totally excited with this find. I also located a 1946 D wheat, so my field trip today was a great success. Some pics of the find and where it was located near the parking lot road.

Congrats on the silvers and wheaties! Looks like you have found a really nice place. Good Luck and hope you get the time to cover the area thoroughly. Productive permissions are a premium find!

Welcome to the exclusive & elite standing liberty quarter club ! I like the peak-a-boo reveal sequence pix :)

I’m still very new to the detecting. I told my wife how much I enjoy going out and searching. Today is the first day I have not detected in 4 weeks straight. I have to say, I feel somewhat addicted at the moment, and this liberty quarter is now my favorite find so far. I love this detecting

Attaboy Flood on your first SLQ. Still a bucketlister for alot of Md'rs. And that last number is all you needed. Can't be 13 or a 33. lol. After reading you original post I was going to ask about the SLQ till I scrolled down a little. Congrats on the Rosie, wheats and scoring what looks to be a promising permission. Good luck on your return. Mark

Went back to this location again yesterday. I did not find any silver coins, but I did find 39 coins total, mostly clad, but I did score eight wheat Pennie’s. They ranged from 1920 to 1950. I am going to return there again, as there is more to explore and maybe I will hit silver. So far, I found 64 coins there, with 2 silvers and 10 wheats.
