I decided to pull down one of my containers of metal detecting finds yesterday and take some pictures. I have sold a lot of my finds, and have many more containers of goodies, but this container had the most coins in it. Most of these finds were made with a Minelab Explorer XS, and Teknetics machines. Without a doubt, the Explorer provided the most fun for me, as I was able to find many older coins that my previous machines were not able to pick up. All my Anfibio and Legend finds are in separate containers, and I'll have to show them at another time. Anyway, these pictures represent many, many hours of detecting, and lots of enjoyment. Almost all of these finds were made in Iowa, including the two Large Cents. Three coins that have eluded me are the Silver Dollar, Seated Quarter, and a Three Cent Piece. I have lived in NW Arkansas since 2007, and I can assure you, it was much easier to retrieve targets in that good old Iowa dirt than this rocky soil where I now live.

Wow! No wonder there's very little left for the rest of us!

I can't imagine what it must have been like 40-45 years ago. Great collection of coins and relics there! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks CallMeGrey. There were more good coins to be found 40-45 years ago. However, most of my better finds were made after getting my Explorer around 2000(22 years ago).

Great post and Great pix. Yes, the Minelab Explorer was a game-changer for a lot of CA hunters too. Good job !

Very nice! The most unusual retirement fund I ever saw!

Thanks Tom. It's kinda hard to believe I actually swung that Explorer all day long. I'll admit my arm was tired at the end of the day.
