Silver Thimble!!

Let's see em! I've only found one and it came late last season from a late 1800's park. I had the pleasure of seeing one of the nicest I've ever seen dug right in front of me at the same park by bottlecapking. Hoping he posts his. Please keep your posts and pics sterling thimble related only! Thank you and happy hunting!

Rang up like a Quarter! Caught off guard! Love finding these!! This is the second Silver Thimble that I’ve found. Both are marked Sterling inside. I’ve probably found close to 20 of the aluminum type. Most of which are smashed. Seems like the advertisement Thimbles have all been aluminum, that I have found. This one is the nicest one I have came across!!

I've found 4, one just a week ago, but it was crushed . I only show the good ones

None are hallmarked, but 2 of the 3 are clearly silver. The one on the left I'm not sure or not :?: The one on the right seems quite old; it has some calligraphy that I cannot read.

One was found at a public park, one was a permission site (private yard of 1890s house), and one at an abandoned old mansion.

Wow they are some very beautiful thimbles. This is my first silver one. I wished it wasn’t smashed. But I’m still glad I found it.

Glad to see you posted it here! I just noticed that yours has a floral design along the bottom... nice!

I found my first thimble in 4 years of detecting just last month, a flat aluminum one. Today I found a nice sterling silver one!

I appreciate all the additions everyone, very nice finds! I found a smashed one on Monday ill be adding here at some point. I was actually working my way through a corn field to get to a water spot, and decided to turn on the equinox in between the stalks. Pretty basic design, but sterling nonetheless. Keep em coming everyone, happy hunting! :cool3:

Unfortunately I haven't yet been fortunate enough to find a sterling thimble.

Until then, I humbly submit this brass thimble I found at an 1800s-era farmhouse. It's not silver, but I still think it's cool...

I agree, the thimble is still a nice find. But when it comes to the new rendition of Washington's profile on the pictured 2022 quarter, it's my humble opinion that the mint should have left well enough alone.

Seriously though, congrats on the find!

This is my one sterling thimble I’ve ever found after finding dozens of brass and aluminum ones. The top is missing but it made the display anyway. They don’t come up often and there are some beauties on this thread. Cool idea

Found in the PNW.
That one is rather pretty, and personalized, too! Was this found at a homesite? If so, is it possible to track down whether an "Annie" lived there in the past? It's always neat to learn more about our finds. :waytogo:

I found my 2nd silver thimble recently. It's a Ketcham & Mcdougall "Damask Flowered" circa 1890. It's slightly out of round at the opening.
