Rhode Island/ Massachusetts beaches

I'm beginning to plan summer vacation. I'm thinking about camping near the beach in either Rhode Island/ Massachusetts. Can anyone give a suggestion as to which public beaches are the best for metal detecting in that area?

Basically all town and county public beaches are fair game. Of course the more populated ones will have the likelihood of more targets. All the National Seashore beaches like a lot of them on the Cape are strictly off limits. Thanks, Uncle Sam!!
