Found this at an old house site. Not sure what it is. Appears to have some fancy on each side with a Dog chasing another animal. It’s not very big. Maybe 1.5” x 0.5”)
Could it have been a bell for on a pets collar?
Any insight is welcome. Thank you!

decretive to go over glass ink well and hold a big feather quill?

Typically the “dog hunting” buttons and other items with that design were for personal items belonging to a man. Thought maybe small oil lamp lid, or candle snuffer. But I’m really leaning towards inkwell lid.

I’m thinking a bicycle bell. It looks like one side is higher than other where the actuator would be.

Think its to small for hat, also the hunting theme does not go with a bicycle tac. Not sure if thats even a think, bicycle tac but it sounds good.

Complete shot in the dark, but possibly half of a pomander? Looks old for sure!

Huh that’s interesting and hadn’t thought of that. Is this somthing a man would have owned? I figure the hunting scene to be gender specific to a man in those times.
